On the topic of magazines......

I've got to check but I may have the following is you wanted them for the Museum....

Official Sega Dreamcast magazine including all Demo Disk's - I think I have every issue but not sure exactly how many.

I also have quite a lot of early EDGE magazines - possibly most, if not all, of the first 40. (I think I have the infamous 3DO feathers issue complete with feathers)

Hopefully I'll have chance to look over the next few days to confirm exact numbers.

Let me know if your interested.

Yeah - always interested in reference material. There will be a place in the museum for that as well!

I've been hunting in  my loft!!!!

I've found Official Dreamcast Magazine's issues 1 to 20....Can't find demo disc's though.

Do you want them? I could bring them to the Open Day or get them to you sooner if you want.

Sorry but I can't find any of my Edge magazines!!! Might be back in Birmingham at my dad's as I know I have a few things still there.

I also found a box of Speccy games i was given that I'd never looked at. Oh well guess that means I'll have to get the +128 out and play them all.....Just to check that are all ok of course! They include Alien8, Manic Minor, Jet Set Willy The Hobbit to name a few.....I also found the cover tape from ACE issue 1!!!!! for both spectrum and Commodore. must see if that works!

@billdooruk

Yep they would be a nice thing to have! The Open Day would be fine to get them if that is okay with you!

Have fun playing the speccy games - i know i still do!

Hello all,
Just had my new issue of Retro Gamer . . . and guess what . . . we are NOT in there? Don't know why yet? I have emailed Darran to find out what is going on . . . to say I am disappointed is an understatement!

Sorry guys!

RIGHT!

Issue 56 of Retro Gamer is now out! and guess what?

WE ARE IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry! Im a little over excited! A friend of mine (Boyo) who organised Retro Fusion earlier this year introduced me properly to Darran Jones (from Retro Gamer) earlier this month. He introduced me through messenger and I now have Darran's email etc. We got chatting and he said that we would probably not be in this month again due to space but he has put us in anyway! For those of you who do have the magazine . . . we are on page 107 a the very top right hand side! Coool!

I don't know about everyone else on here, but I'm a subscriber of RG magazine :)

I have to say, it was good to see RCM in issue 57. It shows that RG are supporting all those who put on events etc.

I have spoke to Darran at Retro Gamer again today and hopefully we will have another bit in the news section before our next event.
I will email him shortly with information.

I've subscribed now and saw the Byte Back mention last months issue.

New one has arrived....Looking forward to reading about Mario Kart as it's one of my favourite SNES games

Of course if they'd actually printed the website URL it may have generated more ticket sales... And no mention at all in the latest issue is somewhat disappointing!  >:(

I know what you mean Mat, I think Darran may have way too much on, I don't think things get checked properly.
I expected to see Byte Back in the same area again with the website details too . . . but no, nothing!

You're not wrong - I don't know who proof-reads the mag but they want sacking. There were half a dozen grammatical errors or typos in the R-Type article alone this month!

Don't get me wrong, I love the mag and the latest issue is one of the best for a while, but I'm a bit pissed off about no mention of the event, and the attention to detail is definitely lacking...

I love the mag too but . . . maybe they need more staff but sales prohibit that?
I don't know what the sales figures are these days? Im sure it is still fairly good though.

I would be willing to contribute something to it if needs be? Im sure quite a few people on here alone would do the same?

I'd be more than happy to help with proof reading etc....

I don't have the knowledge of most people in RCM but I still love my hobby and would do what ever I can to improve things.

I freelance for Retro Gamer and can tell you now that the staff of the magazine are under a lot of pressure - remember that there's basically Darran and Stuart Hunt, and that's it - I think they even have to share their designer/proof reader with other Imagine Publishing magazines.

Darran has never told me what numbers the magazine shifts each month (and Imagine itself refuses to reveal monthly readership figures) but when you consider it's been running for over 40 issues since Live Publishing closed down and Imagine picked it up, I'd guess that it's doing enough business to be worth printing. :)

I have often toyed with the idea of submitting an article about my hobby of repairing arcade PCBs. Dya reckon I should? RG tend to shy away from technical stuff tho.

Was in Smiths earlier today and spotted that the new RG magazine collection no.4 bookazine is out if anyone is interested? It appears to cover best bits from Retro Gamer mag nos 35 - 54. @ £9.99

Had an email about this the other day but completely forgot. I think they make 2 books a year and for £9.95 there worth reading.
