Title: WANTED: Acorn Electron compatible tape deck
Post by: thx1138 on September 26, 2008, 08:24:02 PM
I have an Electron, PSU, rf leads and manuals. I have no software, and want to write some progs, but have no way of saving them at the moment.

You could make one?

All you need is a 7 pin DIN plug(with remote lead) or 5 pin (not tape remote), some cable, 2 3.5mm plug and one 2.5mm plug... Then use a normal tape player you would use on a speccy etc... Sadly, its not the same layout as the CPC cable...(so you cant have one of my spares...)

Maplin should have all the parts you need. Diagram is on page 8 - Using a cassette recorder in the electron user guide.

No, I couldn't make one. I'd arse it up and have a pile of bits that don't do anything in my lap.

Yes, I've got an original one of these and the power supply. It's missing the pause key but believe it's all working other than that. If you're still interested then let me know & I'll dig it out & check it still works...

I did  a years GCSE coursework in  first weekend after I started at high school, on my BBC master compact, and took it in, only to be told that the school still used 5.25" floppy discs, so I reset all the EEPROMs and got thrown out.

Okay, I've found some leads. Can I buy a regular tape machine still anywhere, that I can plug the wotsit into?  ???
