First games system was an Atari 2600 or VCS as it was originally known - I have just got a fairly rare black version.
I have 70 or so games for it as well!

Depends if you can count a Binatone Pong console  :)

Actual computer was a ZX81, with gauntlet (a scramble clone), 3D Monster Maze, 3D Defender, Murgatroyds and Gulp (I think thats the name, a Pacman clone) .... Oh! and not forgetting the 'original' Flight Simulator!

MMmmmMMmmm Walnut cake....

*ahem

forst computer was infact the first one i built.... the ZX80 white Kit built monster... I was 9 and a half years old and my dad telling me it was time i learned to solder....

so yes.... I built a Kit built Zx80 *(a zx81 with different case)* I had a few burns... but come away with not only knowledge... but an addiction to the smell of burning solder ;)

before the Zx80 there was the DataBase (white console with phone set like controllers) had a cool boxing game.... then there was the orange Binotone.... ugh... fugly.... and the Atari 2600 VCS... ahh gaming heaven!!!

then the Zx80... 81, specky 48k... cbm64 (i picked up a DTV joystick today... been giving paradriod a spanking on it), cbm128, specky 128, Atari ST, Amiga 500, Amiga 600, Amiga 1200..... and the rest... well.... :D

Think mine was probably my dads VIC20. Then he went down the 286/386/486 etc route.

My personal 1st machine was the Amstrad CPC6128, then a 386.

Definately the Atari 2600 I remember it was my older brothers birthday I didnt know what to make of it at first. Pacman was alot harder back then I could never get past the first level cos the joystick was hard to switch directions with. I still remember the ads on TV

"Its the 26 hundred from A-Tar-I ... Under 50 bucks, 50 Bucks? Now isnt that right"

cost US$49.99 quite alot back then

Good machine! I still love games on the 2600 such as Haunted House, Adventure and Space Invaders - wicked!

What about combat as well - with bouncy bullets?

Nice one rain_storm!

My first Console was the Atari 2600 - or VCS as someone said below.

It still works and I play Adventure and Indy Jones on it occasionally - along with the 25-30 other games including usual suspects Space Invaders, Combat, Pac-Man but i somehow missed out on ET! (thank god!)

My first computer was either a ZX80 Or ZX81 - my friend dad had both when they were released.I can remember both but the first game I remember paying a golf game which you printed out the screen/hole on the thermal printer.

Then they had a BBC Model B complete with Elite and Chuckie Egg......Ahh the memories

Hello!

Wow, it's great to read all of your gaming histories!

Ermm, let me think......

1. A tiny machine given to me by my Auntie that had Pong and Space Invaders on it. (??)
2. Dragon 32
3. NES (Missed a lot of school playing on this... :P)
3. An Amstrad computer that had green and black graphics (remember trying to play snooker on it...didn't quite work because the of the lack of colour, but I loved it anyway!)
4. Amiga CD32
5. Sega Game Gear
6. Nintendo 64
7. Nintendo GameCube
8. Xbox
9. Nintendo DS Lite
10. Nintendo Wii

Aww, yep, I remember playing Chuckie Egg round at a friends house  ;D I think we had the Beeb in Primary school...

Cheers!

Kat

With all the talk of Combat on the previous page, I just had to join this discussion :)

My first gaming experience was with a hand-me-down Atari 2600 with Combat, Donkey Kong, Video Chess, and a few others.

When the power supply blew up, my mum got rid of it, but I kept the games, and bought a used Jr system many years later.
I still have those same cartridges, plus over 140 more.

I was a big fan of pitfall on the atari 2600. was combat that plane / tank fighting game you could go off the top of the screen to appear on the bottom? I used to love that game too

Pitfall on the atari is pure genius, to be honest the Atari 2600 is an amazing machine considering its age! A true marvel!
I was playing Adventure again the other day (the 2600 version) on my Atari 7800 . . . i loved it still!!!

Pong . . . the best, well, the only!  :'(

Seriously a superb game in its day! was it really around 1978? Wow! I was 8!!! 30 years ago - hard to believe!
But then again the Atari 2600 is around a similar sort of age!! and Space Invaders on that was superb!!!!
