Usefull review.
I got the Raspberry Pi User Guide when it first came out.
Not had much of a chance to get my hands on the unit as my son has been playing with it.

Looking forward to the Raspberry Jam sessions at the Silicon Dreams event at Snibston.

FOR SALE / WANTED / History of Apple limited edition Print/Poster
« on: December 12, 2012, 11:49:57 AM »
This is a wonderful limited edition print of the entire product history of Apple.
My wife has put our 'spare' poster on ebay (finishes tonight)
Thought I would mention it as it is a lovely poster that I have never seen before.
We got one for my son who has loved the classic designs through the ages but had to order from Germany.

for detailed pics see:-

Ebay listing:-

I can drop it of at RCM if anyone would prefer.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Re: RCM Discussion Forum.

Have you seen these repro coffee table gaming machines, or rather have you seen the prices they are charging?

Maybe a line of RCM tables could be in order. Could this be the perfect project for a raspberry pi ?????

p.s.  Virtually all the origional ones are piled up in backrooms in bars in Larnaca (Cyprus). I remember seeing about 50 in one place and about 20 in another.

just googled it.
Thats the one.
Ollie was fascinated by it, but didn't get a chance to have a go on it at snibston. Seemed a popular system on the day.
Will have to have a look at it when we come to RCM next.

Cheers

What was that Star wars console controller on the xbox at snibston?
Is that from RCM or was that brought along for the day.
Never seen one of those before.

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Re: Raspberry Pi : SD Card problems
« on: August 23, 2012, 11:48:42 AM »
I am running mine on an old 2gb Kingston card.
I did have problems with the psi not supplying enough current. You need 4v at about 1a.
Also, the wireless mouse and keyboard struggled, with it repeating characters.
It didn't recognise the tv resolution on hdmi, and so stayed at VGA. We had to set the mode manually in the config.exe file on the root of the card.

Hi. I'm CapriBloke  (yes I have owned some in the past - keeping it retro)

I live in Ashby de la Zouch (about 5 miles from RCM HQ).

I found the museum by chance when my son (aged 12) was finding out about retro consoles and computers, just for his own entertainment.
Been on Sundays a few times, and want to come back whenever jobs at home allow (permission from the missus).
Both my son and daughter (10) loved everything about the place.
Hope to be back many more times, and drag newbies along with us.

Bring on a long wet winter to give us all the excuse to go to RCM HQ  ;)

RCM ANNOUNCEMENTS / Re: Sunday openings . . .
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:42:12 AM »
Could I suggest that you have an obvious Tab or Link on your homepage advertising the sunday openings.
A few people I have mentioned it to couldn't find the info, and thought it was a private collection.
Unless you know to look in the forums, it is not easy to find out the info for newcomers.
A few people have asked me if they can use the machines! They thought it was a static display with just a couple of items powered up when not doing the shows.

Also, may be worth having a "We are Open this Sunday/ We are not open this Sunday" message box before people book tickets.

Hope this helps.  Keep up the good work. :D
