GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Amstrad CPC - Scart
« on: October 10, 2013, 12:53:15 PM »
Long time no post!

I've been toying with the idea of getting myself a CPC 464 or something similar to mess around with some of the stuff circulating around the homebrew scene. I don't really want the bulk of yet another monitor on the geek desk therefore was wondering (if anyone uses these) what kind of results folk were getting  with a Scart lead conversion or similar - plus any recommendations of where to get one from - I'd usually go to Retro Gaming Shack or Dr Phu's Super emporium of good stuff.

Also, if anyone does have a spare 464 gathering dust, that they'd like to sell, please could you let me know?

Many thanks

GAMING . . . / Outrun at 60fps
« on: December 23, 2012, 01:14:52 PM »
New game engine for running Outrun at 60fps called Cannonball.

Got this running up on my projector this afternoon, looks flipping awesome, especially when you downgrade to the original 30fps to see what the difference is.

http://reassembler.blogspot.co.uk/p/cannonball-open-source-outrun-engine.html

You'll need Outrun revision B roms (plus epr-10381a.132 from Revision A) - or rename the epr-10381b.132)

Many thanks

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / SID player recommendations
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:23:36 AM »
Morning all,

Does anyone have any SID player recommendations for play back on a real C64 ( Ultimate 1541 or SD2iEC etc). I usually use Sidplay64 but can often lock up on certain SID tunes.

Cheers

GAMING . . . / Vectrex Regeneration
« on: November 20, 2012, 11:22:46 PM »
Been looking forward to this one for ages now. Vectrex comes to iPad/iPhone (Android to follow) in t-minus 8 days  ;D On ios you can use an iPad as the Vectrex console and a iPhone as a Vectrex controller. It also supports the iCade too, although how well the analogue controls will transfer to the digital iCade will remain to be seen. I'm guessing, it'll work with my 8-bitty too as its based on the icade SDK.

8 days is before the RCM members event too so if I have it and its ok with Andy, I'll bring my iPad/icade setup with me if anyone wants to try it out that weekend?

Classic twin-stick-tastic get a remake.

Awesome stuff...also check out some of the other 'vector' remakes too. We should get these running on one of Mame cabinets.

GAMING . . . / Canvas Rider
« on: September 24, 2012, 01:14:58 PM »
Well I'm rapidly becoming addicted to Canvas Rider, a freebie browser game where you ride a bike over 100's of community drawn obstacle courses. I haven't had this much pedal-tastic fun since Kikstart 2.

Here's a good track to get you started (extra thumbs up if you manage a reverse 360 at jump no.5)

FOR SALE / WANTED / Wanted: BBC Micro plastic trim.
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:53:18 AM »
Morning all,

Does anyone know of any online stores (other than waiting for one to pop up on eBay) that sells the clear plastic trim for BBC Micro's. My Model B has most of the Acorn Owl logo rubbed off and thought it would be nice to get a replacement. Retro-Clinic appears to be all eBay these days...or do i have the wrong link?

Many thanks

OFF TOPIC / Your Raspberry PI plans.
« on: March 07, 2012, 06:58:34 AM »
Now that the PI has been released into to the wild (sorta), just interested to hear what folk are planning to do with them?

HTPC, emulator PC, router, home server,  squeezed into a Gameboy shell?

Feel free to post your ideas here.

FOR SALE / WANTED / Wanted: Master System (Mk1) console.
« on: February 09, 2012, 09:07:35 AM »
It appears that my Sega Master System has finally croaked and given up (still works but strangely thinks that any controller connected is constantly in the up position).

I need my Wonderboy fix so before I have a browse around ebay, I wondered if anyone here has one spare for sale. It doesn't have to be complete or in good condition (I'll be swapping cases), as long as it's working. Specifically I'm looking for a red/black MK1.

Thanks all.

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / C64 SID tunes on a VIC
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:13:50 PM »
Interesting WIP program on the Denial Vic-20 forums to convert c64 SID tunes for playback on a VIC20.

Uploaded a quick vid of me running one on my VC20. Distorted but great to hear the old girl sing!

GAMING . . . / Stubborn .d64 images
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:35:50 AM »
Anyone come across this before with c64 emulators?

Loading a .d64 with LOAD"*",8,1 sometimes returns FILE NOT FOUND.

..but using the first letter of the program I.e from Dropzone -

LOAD"d*",8,1 will work.

Switching emulators sometimes works but not always.

Any ideas?
