FOR SALE / WANTED / C64 chips, what you got?
« on: January 22, 2018, 11:34:30 AM »
Hi everyone,

I'm after some VIC-II chips, preferably 6569, not 8565. Also I'm interested in any other MOS chips you might have spare.

Oh and if you have a Swinsid or JiffyDos for the C64, you want to sell on, I'd be interested in those too.

PM me.

HI everyone, I've searched through the forum and Google, I can't seem to find anything similar to my faulty C64. So, Lemon 64 users, you're my only hope Wink

It's a black screen, so I dropped in a PLAnkton, thinking it might be a PLA issue, but that didn't cure it, the internal bridge rectifier was oscillating so I changed that, measured all the voltages and they are fine. All PSU's are fine and giving correct voltages. So I plugged in my dead test cart, still a blank screen, but SID was singing away nicely. Plugged in the datasette and pressed rewind, switched it back on and the rewind worked for about 5 seconds, then nothing. So I'm thinking it's possibly a bad Kernal rom? Unfortunately for me, only one CIA, the SID, VIC-II and PLA are socketed, and check out fine, so I could do with any suggestions before I socket and replace any other chips.

I'm just about to have a bash at making a diag264 cartridge for my C16's, just curious do C16 carts just use a generic 28pin dip, or do they have to be specific or based on technology of the mid 80's

Any advice is greatly appreciated 👍

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / C16 PSU Transformer secondary voltage
« on: November 27, 2017, 07:03:53 PM »
Does anyone know off hand the AC output voltage of the C16's power supply transformer secondary, before it hits the bridge rectifier?

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Amiga 500 revelation
« on: November 27, 2017, 12:04:47 PM »
After listening to David Pleasance's talk at the pre-Christmas do. He mentioned that a lot of Amiga 500's, actually contain 500+ boards, due to the high demand and lack of regular 500 boards.

So I'm guessing the only way to confirm which board is inside a 500 is by visual inspection only?

CODING AREA / Amiga programming
« on: April 06, 2015, 11:48:00 PM »
After watching the Amiga intro entries for Revision 2015, I'd love to have a crack at programming for the Amiga. Where would someone start? Any suggestions or advice to run for the hills instead? lol...

OFF TOPIC / Revision 2015
« on: April 06, 2015, 11:28:50 PM »
As I didn't get chance to go to the event at Swannington due to everything going breasts vertical at this end, sorry guys :'( I had to satisfy my nerdy needs with a solid weekend watching Revision 2015 on my smart TV. Anyone else get a chance to check it out? It was really above par. The only downside was the fact that I've left a dent in the sofa ;D

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd share my Flickr album from Friday day 1 of the RCM 4 day event at Snibston.

OFF TOPIC / Soldering on!
« on: October 07, 2012, 10:10:11 PM »
Just wondered if I could pick your brains. I'm about to upgrade my soldering setup and as such I'd like to hear your recommendations for gear. I'm looking for a variable iron (my 25w Antex has had it's day), something that will work with traditional components and  SMD stuff. Plus a de-soldering station. Hell while I'm at it, I may just upgrade my meter too. So what do you reckon is the business and best bang for the buck?

OFF TOPIC / Oh No! I've been tickling the Ivories!

Finished tinkering with a little tune, based loosely on Disco & a Commodore 64. I'd be over the moon if you could have a listen ;)

CODING AREA / PHP 5 and beyond
« on: May 15, 2012, 05:00:18 PM »
I wonder if anyone here is into PHP? I was pretty good with it for a time, then got slack and I got left behind around version 4.2.3. :-\

Fortunately I'm still good with MySQL :D , which is a bonus although I'm finding life hard with globals off!

Can anyone recommend any good sites for brushing up and coding to take globals off into consideration, cos I'm pulling my hair out here lol ;D

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Atari Harmony Cart, anyone got one?
« on: May 10, 2012, 08:24:07 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has an Atari Harmony Cart? Thinking about getting one, just wondered if you might have one and are they worth the cash? ($96.99 for the delux) And do you have the standard or delux?

FOR SALE / WANTED / Commodore 16 PSU Wanted Dead or Alive
« on: May 02, 2012, 07:49:52 PM »
Preferably dead and there's no 'You spin me right round, baby right round, like a record player' involved!

Sorry about that, I stepped out for a moment! Seriously I would love to get my hands on an unwanted UK PSU for the commodore 16, it doesn't matter if it's a non runner. I'd give you a fair price for it and enough to cover p&p costs.

If you've got one or two laying around PM me ;)

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone on the forum :) I'm Trev, I've been an avid gamer since I got my hands on a Binatone in the early 80's. Got my first Atari 2600 (Vader model) for Christmas 83, and I've owned Commodore's 16, +4, Vic20 (Now with Max Hall lol), 64, 128, Amiga's, various Speccy's too!

I'm still big on my Atari's, I still have 7 of em, 5 2600's (2 Vaders, 1 6 switch Woody, 1 4 switch Woody & a Jnr) and 2 7800's. I'm also Edit_5 over on Atari Age.

I'm also into electronics, a bit of programming, astronomy & I'm an active Radio Ham :)
