FOR SALE / WANTED / MTX REMEMOrizer
« on: October 20, 2012, 11:14:06 PM »
REMEMOrizer is an add-on for Memotech computers which I have designed and built a working prototype.
It provides memory upgrade (if you need it), extra memory (to use as RAM Disc), SD Card as disk, CP/M support, 80 column card (outputs to VGA) and virtual tape support.

Basically, it loads games in seconds...

Its very nearly ready, and I expect I'll end up making a small number of them for enthusiasts, which I'll make available at component cost price.

FOR SALE / WANTED / MTX Memory Cards
« on: October 12, 2012, 11:29:38 PM »
Folks,

I am now able to create memory cards for upgrade or repair of MTX systems.
One board design for a variety of cases, although GAL chip and jumper settings vary, depending on a number of factors, such as

How much memory your MTX has to start.
How big an SRAM chip you are putting in it.
How much you want to make available.

FOR SALE / WANTED / Free chips
« on: August 23, 2012, 11:46:49 PM »
I have various ICs in my electronics box.
Some I may use, some I probably won't, and some I can't.
They date back to the 8-bit era.

Some 64Kx1bit DRAMs, 4164, 4264, 6665 or similar numbers.
Some PAL14L4s (I can program GALs but not PALs).
Misc small (by modern standards) EPROMs, EEPROMs.
Some misc TTL ICs.

So if you need anything like this to repair an old retro computer, let me know.

A modern day (incomplete) REimplementation of a MEMOTECH compatible computer, in VHDL, on Cyclone II, on Altera DE1.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / MEMOrizer for Memotech MTX

are my thoughts on perhaps the simplest way to add random access storage to Memotech MTX machines.
Don't know if I'll actually build it, but an interesting learning experience for me anyway.

OFF TOPIC / iPhone and RCM
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:46:38 PM »
Just an observation:
Seem to be able to post to these forums ok from iPhone.
However I don't seem to be to type into the Post Comment textarea associated with a System.

I'm assuming that if I wasn't entitled to do it, I wouldn't see the Post Comment button.

No big deal really, I do use real computers from time to time ...  :-)

FOR SALE / WANTED / Memotech ROMs or images thereof
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:30:40 PM »
I'm not talking about cassette tapes, .mtx file images of tapes, .run files, .com files, or other games/programs as files.
I'm also not talking about the 3 8KB ROMs in every MTX, known as OSROM, BASICROM and ASSMROM.
I'm also not talking about the SCPM ROM in MTX/SDX systems running CP/M 2.2, as I have this (indeed I have the source and created this in the first place)

I mean the following 8KB ROMs, possibly on ROM cards, or even just 8KB file images of them :-

- FDX boot ROM

- SDX ROM in normal SDX disk add-on, providing USER LOAD, USER SAVE, USER RUN and other USER commands to MTX BASIC, allowing it to access the floppy disk

- Speculator ROM

- "Z" ZX Spectrum basic emulator ROMs (probably 3 8KB chips on a 4 socket ROM card, only one or two of these were ever made)

- NewWord word processor

- HiSoft Pascal

- Any of the games which were blown to ROMs for use at trade shows

If anyone has the chips and doesn't wan't part with them, I can probably write and supply a program to read them to a file.

I want to try running some of them in my Memotech Emulator (aka MEMU).

Hi there.

Back in the late 80's I used to write games for the Memotech MTX.
I still have a Memotech system, a one-off variant of the MTX with SDX.
I can't get a stable TV picture, so I have to use an ancient green screen monitor.
I dont expect it to last much longer...

For those of you who might be interested in Memotech
http://www.nyangau.org/ is my site
http://www.nyangau.org/memotech/memotech.htm talks about Memotech stuff
http://www.nyangau.org/memu/memu.htm is my Memotech Emulator
http://www.nyangau.org/mfloppy/mfloppy.htm is a tool to read and write Memotech floppies

My interest here is in capturing Memotech stuff before it stops working.
