FOR SALE / WANTED / Couple of C64 boards
« on: May 19, 2013, 06:56:18 PM »
I remember speaking to someone at one of the RCM meetings about wanting some C64 spares.......

So I have two old C64 boards here, they are missing VIC-II, SID and U81 but have everything else present, I don't know what works on these boards because I've not de-soldered them but the SIDs all worked so some or all of the other chips may work too.

There are also a couple of boards that have had virtually all the chips removed, if you wanted these too, but no obligation.

Yours for the cost of postage.

Cheers.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Atari 8 bit SD/MMC Cart
« on: January 22, 2013, 05:39:13 PM »
At one of the Snibston events I remember seeing an Atari 8 bit system, think it was either an 600XL or 800XL that had a SD/MMC based multi-cart. Does anyone know where I can get one from ?

Cheers.

FOR SALE / WANTED / Could anyone use....
« on: November 12, 2012, 03:08:29 PM »
Would anyone have a use for a 17" CRT VGA monitor, not sure of the specs off the top of my head, will get model number and check this evening.

If anyone wants this you can have it free, but you'll either need to collect or I could bring it to the RCM event in December.

I also expect to have some other stuff to dispose of at a later date.

Cheers.

FOR SALE / WANTED / Anyone know where I can get....
« on: October 18, 2012, 09:42:13 AM »
A 6502C, which is the custom 6502 variant used in the Atari 8 bit machines XEGS in this case, as I have one belonging to Arcadian, which seems to have a dead CPU :(

For those that don't know a standard 6502 or 65co2 won't work as the 6502C has an extra halt line, which the standard CPU doesn't.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Atom upgrades.....
« on: May 13, 2012, 09:32:57 PM »
Just a status update on the RCM Atom.

The clock circuit problem has been fixed, it seemed to be a short between pins 10 and 11 of the LS04, which would have shorted out one of the inverters, causing the circuit not to oscilate.

I have replaced the laptop PSU & regulator with a barrel connector for connecting a 5V regulated PSU, I have a spare that I'll let you have.

I've unsoldered the MMC rom, and replaced it with a socket, and also put a socket in the IC21 position.

I have removed IC5 as it is not needed unless you are running anything from the bus on the rear of the machine.

I've socketed the other ICs ar required to fit the upgrades.

The upgrades are fitted and working, however there is a problem.

The 6847 that was installed is a 6847YP, which means that it is interlaced, and seemingly incompatible with the colour board, though the RAM still works and monochrom output is still available. I have tried it with a 6847P from my spares box which works as expected and produces a colour output. I may have a dead Dragon32 board that I can salvage a 6847P for you if you don not have one.

Lemme know if you want me to do this ?

Questor: Your Atom is done, the crash turned out to be the CPU type select jumper being in the wrong position ! I've also fitted a propper barel connector for you to use the +5V regulated PSU.

Cheers

RCM GAMING EVENTS - OPEN DAYS 2012 / Does RCM have......
« on: May 08, 2012, 05:12:07 PM »
As I'm coming to the members even this weekend, and bringing the Atom addons for RCM and for Simon, does the RCM have a soldering iron / sucker that I can borrow as I'll need to do a couple of patches to the Atom boards to fit the Ram-Rom-ClockBoost board, note mods are non-destructive and just require fitting 3 patch wires....no track cutting is required :)

Do you know what versions of the AtoMMC firmware you have, and what PIC is on the MMC board ?

Cheers.

FOR SALE / WANTED / Long tailed edge connectors.
« on: January 18, 2012, 11:49:12 PM »
Hi,

Does anyone know a source of edge connectors with long pins on them, I need at least 50 way, larger is ok as I can always cut them down.

I need these to be mounted edge on to the end of the board and then soldered top and bottom to the board, so that the boards can be connected edge to edge.

Cheers.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Cleaning PCBs
« on: January 17, 2012, 11:47:53 PM »
Hi I have a bunch of Acorn Electron expansion PCBs, that I want to try and repair, all of which have a mild ammount of green corrosion / oxidiation where the edge connector is soldered to the board. I am going to remove and replace the edge connector, however I want to clean all of the green oxide off the board and clean up the solder pads before soldering a new connector on.

Does anyone know what would be a suitable way of doing this ?

And yep I'm also removing the soldered in NiCds too.....

Cheers.

FOR SALE / WANTED / Apple II / II+ / Europlus keyboard.
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:50:33 AM »
Asking here on the offchance......

Ok so over the last couple of days I have successfully managed to get my Apple II Europlus going.
However it's keyboard is shot, and it is one of the almost impossible to repair types, so I'm on the lookout for a replacement.

Note it's just the keyboard itself, the encoder board has been repaired and is ok, I just need the switch matrix.

Cheers.

FOR SALE / WANTED / BeebSID.
« on: October 27, 2011, 01:47:25 PM »
Hi all,

Those of you that frequent the Beeb site stardot.org / stairwaytohell will know that I have just had a new bunch of BeebSID boards made.

BeebSID is an interface that connects to the 1MHz bus on the BBC or Master and contains a Commodore SID chip, interface is pretty easy to
build. I still have a bunch of the boards if anyone on here wants one, send me a PM, cost of the board would be £11 including p&p. The cost of the
additional components required to make a working board (excepting the SID) would be about another £10, depending on where you source them
from.

On a related note does RCM have a BeebSID ? if not does it want one as a donation, though you'll have to source your own SID as I only have 1 chip
that is not in a C64/128 and that's on my BeebSID :) :) :)

Cheers.

Phill.
