FOR SALE / WANTED / ERROR: BUFFER OVERFLOW - time to let some stuff go
« on: April 14, 2014, 09:40:36 PM »
I have hit that point where I no longer have any space left to add to my collection, so it is time to let a few things go.

Firstly the Acorn BBC Master 512 I will leave with RCM as a donation.

Secondly - I don't actually have a view on what to sell first, so pop over to my list http://www.retrocomputermuseum.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3274.0 and feel free to PM me or post here with anything you might be interested in and I'll give it some consideration. Collection at the RCM Easter event on Fri/Sat is available.

I will be keeping my CPC6128, most of the Amigas so don't bother asking about those.

FOR SALE / WANTED / WANTED: Nintendo DS Lite/DSi
« on: February 12, 2013, 11:19:27 AM »
My 6 year old son loves using my DS Lite - but it has now started to develop dead lines across the LCDs so its only a matter of time before it goes from annoying to unusable.

Anybody got one going for a fair price?

ARCADE / Capcom Gunsmoke Repair Log
« on: January 15, 2013, 04:37:33 PM »
This one is being done live...

Made up a classic Capcom harness - only connected power and video at this point - will complete it later.

Powered up the Gunsmoke board - random graphic blocks on screen - colours not correct (no green).

Flipped Test Mode on - Now displays ** TESTING RAM ** and doesn't do anything else.

Although this isn't good, it does tell be the board isn't totally dead so there is hope. Off to read schematics now to plan the diagnostic session...and to see if I have some of the right RAM spare (unlikely!)

ARCADE / Starting Arcade repairs
« on: January 07, 2013, 09:22:43 PM »
Having got my hands on a couple of non-working PCBs for a cheap price I want to start having a go at repairs....

The PCBs I have are:

Bootleg - Kung-Fu Master - (Non-Jamma so 1st task is building a connector) - I can see its missing 2 XTALS already and a number of the ceramic capacitors are either missing or damaged so plenty of obvious work to keep me going.

Original - SNK TNKIII - (Non-Jamma) - Missing 1 XTAL - nothing else noted so far.

I will document and create a repair log for each of these.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / TS2068 Repair Log
« on: September 20, 2011, 11:36:15 AM »
US/NTSC Timex Sinclair 2068 Repair Log:

1. 1st step - get the right PSU sorted - DONE - 15v negative centre
2. Power on - Get black and white horizontal stripes (2 of each) - no response.
3. Put scope on the Z80 - nothing happening.
4. Removed Z80 - Powered on without Z80 - same stripes
5. Fitted new socket - dropped in new Z80
6. She is alive......Yeah  ;D

TODO:
7. Need to look at keyboard signaling - 5 keys are dodgy - all on A9 so suspect either cable or solder joint on connector......either way not too difficult to work around and fix.
8. Load some TS 2068 software !!
