HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Oric 1 power supply output
« on: December 11, 2018, 05:43:14 PM »
Hi all
I have just purchased a oric 1 computer but when I plug it in I get a multicoloured screen for a few seconds then it boots up to the normal screen then sometimes it locks up so have to power off and on again to get it to work again then while testing the keyboard sometimes I get a coloured line across some of the text so the first thing I have done is test the power supply which is the correct oric one but it says 9v output but when I test it with a multimeter it is outputting 12v is this correct if it is then I can start investigating further.
Many thanks

Hi all
I Have just picked up a BBC computer and plugged it in and just get a continuous beep with two lights lit and no picture.
So I opened it up to investigate further but a little unsure which version I have on the motherboard it says
0233,000 ISS 1 copyright 1984 and on the bottom case instead of a normal Acorn number it says
Cleartone Abercarn Gwent 105099.
Many thanks in advance

many thanks in advance.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / acorn electron gone faulty
« on: February 02, 2015, 12:37:10 PM »
hi all
got my old acorn electron out and it has developed a fault when it has been left switched on for a couple of minutes lines start going across the screen and the computer locks up then when you disconnect the power and turn it back on you get a yellow screen and there is no clicking noise which you normally get when you turn it on but if you disconnect the power there is a clicking noise.
if you leave it powered off for a couple of mins the acorn comes back to life but then it all starts again.
anyone got any ideas please.

the discs seem fine they are single sided single density some of the games work fine but others either start to load or get nowhere the settings are set at default as it is the unregestered version of ape

hi all
I have just got my sio2pc interface from atarimax and want to put some games from the internet onto my 1050 drive to play on my atari 800xl.
only problem is with the software i have with it only .atr files are reconized but alot of the games are .atx is there a way of converting them to .atr or is there some other software out there that can handle them.
many thanks in advance

thanks for the reply
found the .cas files now and turned them into wav with out using any of the settings but not had any look getting a game to load.
is there any settings that i should enter in cas2wav to get them to load.
many thanks
