CODING AREA / Re: 6502asm.com

@Thread

Hey guys, JavaScript shouldn't be confused with Java, these are two distinct entities with very little relation either syntaxial or interpretation.

JavaScript (an interpreted language *like BASIC* ) had its uses, but sadly it was very prone to be exploited on any system it was running - due to nefarious mind types using JavaScript its very easy to compromise a system, infact a little too easy - unfortunately when you start bolting down JavaScript to be secuirty minded, it looses its useability for the most part.

Java on the other hand uses libraries and a different syntaxt to handle multiple objects, this is then partially compiled - think of it like object code that C / C++ uses.

Now, the host will have a Java Object code interpreter that is native for that machine - x86 / PPC / ARM etc and it runs the object codes through its parser.

Java is a LOT faster than JavaScript as by definition its not a scripted language - however, when programming while I am quite competent in Java and JavaScript, I much prefer C / C++ since you can craft ones code for the target machine - optimizing it, honing it, to really squeeze the performance out of it... while hand crafter asembly would be faster - you can even use ASM inline with C code.

Recently I got into Sinclair spectrums in a big way - so much so it got me back into writing Z80 assembly =)

Hmmm Bargins...

I was at a Carbooty a few months ago now... and managed to pick up...

2 Sega Dreamcast's with 2 Controllers each with a VMU each as well... All leads included (AV-RGB Scart :D) and 1 Netware CD thingy and 1 Offcial Dreamcast keyboard...
.
... hold on to you hats chaps..... the grand price was..... £16 .... yes.... sixteen pounds sterling.... Bargain me thinks!!!!!

at the same booty i had an argument with a tosser wanting £30 for a beating A1200 in a box that was on the floor and damp was in there... and dew allover the components...

he was like... "I have seen these sell for about £30 on ebay..." and I said... "you would be better off selling it there m8... " he got all gruffy and said "well it all works and everythings there..." to which i replied... " its not worth £15 buddy... theres no guarnatee it does work and you aren't likely to be here every again..."..... with that i walked off... happy in the knowledge i had imparted my wisdom on the day :D

one deal i could kick myself over was the Sega Portable... it had the case, tv tuner a bunch of game and adapter cables... (there was 2 of them) for £10 each.... i just didnt have the funds.... so i pouted and talked retr0 gaming with the guy behind the table... much chin waggery was had...

I appreciate your kind words,

alas i had to shelf this project for another year, as the need for a proper PSU for it seems elusive. the project needs 15 amps on the +5, and i i can find is 13amps and thats the maximum in todays market. but I can wait.... its worth it :D

@James

Great to see you here m8, again an excellent bit of hackery!

@Andy

Impressive sir! Lovin' the IDE interface, I am guessing the ROMS are needed as the interface looks very simple.. my friend Yorkie has a +2 I would love to build him one of these, does it use a FAT16 format? is there a partition / hard disk size maximum

clearly Awesome!

@all

okay.... a little mod i did a while back....

I had the plastics and a dead CDTV keyboard.... so I built an Athlon 2400 / 1GB EEC / 1x 80GB HDD / 1x 40GB HDD 1x 4GB CF / DVDRW into a modified A1200 Chassis, running Amithalon, Linux, XP, 98/Dos etc

have a look here at the FAX'86 Project: Fantasy Amiga X86

Manic Miner

Level Skip
while playing the game press the following in sequence: 6,0,3,1,7,6,9

once you have done this you will notice a BOOT appear at the end of your lives, and now you can press any combination of number keys to skip to that level.

Infinite Lives
while playing the game press break then type, POKE 23099,255
that my friends gives you infinite lives
