Selling my original C64 collection from when was a kid,
A guy at work was just telling me how he used to review C64 games for a magazine back in the day. They sent him (generally fully boxed) pre-release games and he got to keep them - so his collection included a few that weren't released because either the company went bust or the reviews were so bad they'd decided not to release the game.

The whole collection went to the tip. Yikes.

A no, thats really bad.....some lost gems there then for sure.

but am VERY rusty when it comes to assembler
Go for it. I hadn't done much assembly language for quite a while before starting this project and haven't found it too bad. In some ways it's quite easy since you're so limited in what you can do, it helps you keep focus. No searching through thousands of pages of MSDN looking for an under-documented library or routine, all you need is two sides of A4 - a memory map of the target computer, and list of CPU instructions.

Breaking every task down in to the smallest pieces you can really helps. I'm tending to concentrate on code readability etc. and using only registers and the stack for as much as possible - keeping things simple is allowing me to make quick progress, and the performance seems good.

Once you get back into the flow you'll be fine.

Yeah , gonna be fun, and just going with the flow...

Want to code a version of "Cosmic Ark" on the C64, but am VERY rusty when it comes to assembler, so gonna take it nice and easy, and start with the basics, maybe get sprites displayed 1st then work from there.......gonna be a bit of a project, but will see how it goes.

I kinda like Paperboy, and Ghosts n Goblins/Ghosts n Ghouls on the Megadrive, great arcade conversion's, so close to original...also Crazy Taxi on the Dreamcast (Jap one) is as close to the arcade as it gets, just like playing arcade. Also House of the Dead II on the Dreamcast as well, very true to arcade...

Of course, Rainbow Islands on the Amiga, and Donkey Kong on the Atari Xl/Xe as you say are great...

A pile of Master System games from Portugal, (so some Portuguese releases) and a Amstrad Speech Synth from Egay...

a 16k Issue 1 speccy, says he couldn't get a piccy on analogue TV, but its been composite modded so fingers crossed its a runner...
