Hi all,
Again......
Been away for awhile 🧐 got sick in 2011/12 then moved for a while (was work and family related and was caring for my father - nope I wasn’t in jail ) and all my retro stuff (and pcs) were in storage.
Just getting them all out and unpacked and thought of you guys......
Hope all is well @ RCM.
Forgot how much retro stuff I had - just come across a commodore 128 fitted with some sort card device. I don’t even remember owning it,,!!!
Been a long time but would like to contribute
All the best ,
Steve

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / $ony PSV?
« on: February 04, 2012, 11:20:47 AM »
Hi all,
first my apologies for my absence from the boards.   :'( But I am still here  :-*
Just wondering how many, if any, of U R thinking of getting the PS vita soon. I have never owned a psp and was planning on getting one this year. However, with the psv hitting the streets in less than 3 weeks it seems pointless. The psv has a psp emulation mode that means emulators cam still run, and the psv is bound to be hacked soon so full speed retro emu is bound to be on the cards.
I am STILL waiting for my Pandora  so a psv looks ace atm.

hi guys,
anybody selling any 1200 parts?
will consider cards going at right price - seen some silly prices on ebay of late

GAMING . . . / Re: Modern FPS Gaming
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:57:20 PM »
Xbox live FPSs are not my friend atm - i cant stand the screaming kids anymore. I am sick of having my race and sexuality questioned by 12 yr olds playing an 18 rated game. I pay 40quid a year for the pleasure too :(
I do really enjoy Zombies though - 3Arcs Zombie co-op maps from World At War and BlOps are the best thing to come out of the whole glut of console based FPS games in years now - IMO of course

GAMING . . . / very good Elite clone on xbox360
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:51:07 PM »
Hi Guys,
found this little gem you may love if you were an elite fan
http://www.dealspwn.com/tag/final-rift/
Its called Final Rift and its a very good Elite game. Its a little less open ended than Frontier and perhaps less complex in places but for 80Ms points  [less than half a pint of beer] its too good not to try.
If you liked Elite you will find something here to looooove
I cant stop playing it

Hello again all,
I have been away along while - redundancy, ilness, early middle age induced surgery and finaly a house move that has seen all my retro stuff bagged up and in storage. But all is much better now and I am reactivating my accounts on EAB and Retro Gamer
Its good to see you guys going from strength to strength
Andy my apologies for not being around or coming to your gigs but its been a rough year or so and everything has taken a back seat.

hi guys,
just a note to say i is back. Had a bit of a ruff ride lately with redundancy and both me and the misses being taken in to hospital for ops. But we are all well and back on form and I have a new job in the game studies and design department of Stafford uni. and a new install of vista and home office apps. Dont know what the new job has waiting for me yet but given my background as a historian I dare say I can do some lectures on retro gaming systems. Hope everybody is well and happy? Has anybody seen Jimbob005 lately? I could do with buying him a beer.

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Re: Open Pandora . . .
« on: March 06, 2009, 11:04:50 PM »
Hi guys and thanx Andy,
Cheers Duddyroar for posting that, i hadnt found that one. the Interview i want to do ( I have been away with the military for a few days so wont be getting things together till after B-Back event) is going to be more related to games preservation and the open source scene. I have a couple of articles planned (just throwing mud at the wall and seeing what sticks atm; it is not definite that anything will come this yet ) the one I am most interested in is about us retro geeks actually being games historians/archivists, and by using the panny we preserve software and roms etc. I am currently looking at a few questions in the following areas - History; technology;legality;gaming and emulation; development problems and issues;sales.
any questions you can think of will be warmly received, you guys here have far more knowledge than me regarding retro machines, so I am especially interested in questions regarding our own particular interests in the pandora and RCM issues.
I am waiting for my panny with baited breath - its just taking ages to arrive.
