GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Re: Sord M5 multicart
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:44:45 PM »
Well well, look what the cat dragged in :D

I refuse to make promises any more these days as I've proved to myself quite comprehensively that I'm unreliable. I don't want to let people down.

It's no secret that I've had a few problems with the M5 multicart, and I've been unable to work out why. The appearance of new roms has prompted me to start thinking about it again though...

Speaking of which - THANK YOU TBC! You are a true friend to the retro scene :D

So in conclusion - no promises but watch this space ;)

Stuart - your name is at the top of the list if I get some working boards.

Cheers  ;D

I'm starting to wonder if making boards is viable. I know there's a market for maybe 10 or so - but more than that? It's a question of economy really, if I'm making boards then I need to make at least 20 for it to be affordable... Thoughts?

Of course the true path of development never runs smooth :D

The V2 prototype shewn here was the upgrade after the initial hack. Unfortunately it's not working yet. It's not far off, and when it does (when the new CPLDs arrive on Tuesday) then things should happen quite quickly.

I can read and write to SD cards, and the einstein/pic interface is working. I did some work on the PIC command processor last night and I have some einstein code to test it all out. I just need to bring it all together.

I'm posting occasional updates here

OFF TOPIC / Re: Soldering on!
« on: October 08, 2012, 10:43:31 AM »
Anything by Hakko. I couldn't recommend my soldering station more - it's only a low-end machine (fx888) but it is such a great quality piece of kit. And the sole distributors in the UK (http://www.dancap.co.uk/) are a model of how a family business should be run. Don't be put off by the web site. Call them and have a chat. I spent a happy half hour talking with someone there about my choice of soldering tips.

I think the cover'll be coming off this weekend ;)

No rush, I'm just curious if it'll be worth upgrading mine, which is (I think) a 1.2.

Ta!
