I've got loads of 2Gb and a few 4gb but they're all Micro SD, so you'd need an adapter to use them.

Do you want to try-before-you-swap for whatever ones you've got that don't work?

I have adapters and 4gb ones would be perfect. I have two 10day old SD cards, Integral MicroSD HC Class 4 4gb and Deolux SDHC 16gb.

A " try-before-you-swap " is neat idea. I'll PM you my address ! :)

Grr ... I can't believe every single SD I have is listed as not currently compatible with the Pi ! :(

Would anyone like to trade a fully working SD for one that works ( tested ) with the Pi ? I have spent £15 on cards already.

Thanks.

It can be two things:

Most likely it doesn't like the SD card - it can be a bit fussy and they are trying to patch things up....

Least likely, but not unheard of, its a dodgy Pi - a couple of slipped through that I have heard of - RS/Farnell are usually quick to replace if you can prove it by using a "supported" SD card.

Hopefully, it will be the suspected SD card problem. I have ordered a 4gig one from eBay for £4, which should ( fingers crossed ) work ! It's funny, I have loads of USB Memory sticks and not enough SD Cards !  :D

As soon as I get it up and running I'll post a few photos and maybe a video. ;)

You could check http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#SD_cards for working cards.

What class is the card?  It seems there has been some issues with higher speed cards and driver fixes are on the way.

(some more info here: http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/q/36/161 )

Thanks for the additional info. I didn't realise it didn't like some SD Cards ! :o

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Raspberry Pi : SD Card problems
« on: July 04, 2012, 06:27:33 PM »
Hi ! :)

I have my Raspberry Pi now, but seem to be having problems booting it up with the SD Card I am using.

I have used Win32 Disk Imager to write 'Debian Sqeeze' to a 'deolux' 16 GB SDHC card. It boots and then just sits there, no login or command prompt appears.

Is it the SD Card ? Can anyone recommend an SD Card or size to use or even have one spare ? Or am I doing something else wrong ?

Many thanks ! ;)

Alex. :)

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Website : Alex Aris Games
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:32:53 PM »
Hi ! :)

I now have a website for : Alex Aris Games [ www.alexarisgames.co.uk ]

It is basic at the moment, but I hope to populate it with more games and information from the history of my work over the coming weeks / months. You will notice that Shapes Mindorama is proudly placed on the main index page, this is intended to catch a bit of web traffic if people are passing by with an additional link to my first website : [ www.arisfamily.co.uk/alex ] where most of my current and earlier work is placed.

Please feel free to place links on your wesbites and spread the word, it would be very much appreciated ! :)

Thanks !

Alex. :)

The world is full of shapes and a jigsaw has pieces that form a puzzle. Shapes Mindorama where Every Shape Has a Shadow is a twist on the ancient game of 'Tanagrams'. Simply 'Select' a 'Blue' 'Shape' and place it on the corresponding 'Shadow', whilst you are against a 'Timer'. Points will be awarded for each correctly placed 'Shape' and for each level completed.

There are 10 levels in each one of the five stages. Your progression won't be saved until you complete a stage.

Glad you liked it ! :)

There is a little pink / red power button icon in the top right hand corner on the title screen, if you 'tap' on that, it should quit the app okay. I added it after the screen shots were taken. The description on the App Store has been changed to mention this as well.

An unusual first submission to the Android App Play Store, but here we have ...

Help Ru destroy all the enormous Sprouts with his super Peas. Flatulence will aid your movements, but keep in control otherwise you will collide and explode into particles until the next time. You will have brief moments of invincibility, so take advantage of them whenever possible.

Use (Arrows) to Move (Left) and (Right). Green (Button) to (Thrust) and Red (Button) to (Fire).

You can Download for *FREE*, Fartoids from the Android Play Store by searching for : Alex Aris Games Fartoids

Compatible with Android 2.1 and above.

Have fun ! :)
