Must have missed that one !!  :-[

Some people are not that confident, especially in a large room full of people that they have never met before. I missed the badges this year

I think I must fall into that category !!  :'( I generally talk to the people I know, sometimes I wished i took after my Dad, he will speak to ANYONE !!!  :o

Attn: DPrinny.

I have complaints to make against you regarding sacrilege! ;)

Re: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBmikZhM_jE

You called an Atom an Electron, a Vic 20 a C64, an Atari 5200 an Atari 7800 and an Apple IIgs a Mac (the IIgs, although having a similar GUI is based on pre-Mac technology and not compatible).

Otherwise a good video :)

Bah!

I blame timing and my 48k memory(and that I don't really do these older computers)
(and tiredness as I had a sleepless night)
Reuping without tags will add them afterwards

In the mean time

There was a pretty MAME cabinet set up in the corner but the 3D arcade frontend software was either buggy or had insufficient resources to run on. Last time there was someone with MAME + an X-Arcade stick and I loved it.

The layout of the previous event was much better and occupied all 3 rooms rather than just the two, what was the reason for this?

The MAME cabinet is currently running fe3darcade which just about runs on the hardware, which is admittedly a tiny bit underpowered. Most of the time it runs fine, but it is beta-level software so there are a few bugs. The most noticable of issues is that it isn't fully configured, so it takes (often incorrect) guesses at what games should be in the arcade.

We are looking at other frontends so this may change for the next event.

We change the overall layout at each event anyway, but on this occasion we didn't have as many people bringing "collections" so there was less space used in the two front rooms. As a result, we set one of them aside as a "chill out" area, in particular so that those stopping for some lunch had somewhat proper to sit down and eat.

We're planning on the same chill-out area for the next event in October, but we haven't finalised the layout for the main hall and the other front room yet.

I must admit, I find the 3D arcade awkward to use, perhaps I'm just so used to the pick a game off the list in MAME setup  :-\

Might be worth getting an instruction sheet done, explaining what buttons do what, credits, one player start etc. as I've seen people aimlessly pressing buttons trying to get games working, and I couldn't help them much either  :-[

I thought the 'Chill Out' area was good, nice to be able to sit down and eat some food  :)
