Hello,

My name is Clare, I am the Derby Linux User Group "LUG Master" (http://derbylug.org.uk) I heard about the Retro Computer Museum at VCF 2010. It was so good to see some of the computers I used to play on as a kid and have the chance to play on them again.

I look forward to talking to you

Clare

Hi Everyone

My name is Glyn and I'm a 52 year old IT fossil living in Leicester.

I found the RCM whilst searching for information on the second computers I worked on the Rank Xerox Sigma V back in the mid 70's.

I've been in IT since 1975, starting as a computer operator on Honeywell DDP516 minis, then the Rank Xerox Sigma V then I moved into programming in assembler and Fortran 4 on ICL2960 and 2966, Vax 11-780 & 785 and Data General Nova 3 with a Megatek 7000 graphics system before moving on to the more modern stuff.
I'm still in IT as a database manager/development specialist at a large private boarding school and have the honour of being a Fellow of the Institute of Analaysts and Programmers.

Was great having a chat with Andy earlier when he called to pickup my old Pet 8032, I know it's now got a good home and will be preserved for the future :)

Keep up the great work, these machines need champions before they all disappear.

Nice one .. and welcome aboard.

If you're a fossil at 52, some of us are just hitting 40 or so .. wonder what that makes us? :)

OK there are some 'babes in arms' on here who've yet to hit 25 but the majority of are semi-fossils :)

Welcome to RCM Glyn and thank you for the superb donation of a PET  ;D

Oh and at 41 I don't think of myself as a fossil yet, more 'nicely preserved'  ;D

I'm from WisconsinLinux and I stalked Womble and Panther. I'm a Republican activist like Sideshow Bob! Don't mind me, I say the M or C word a lot.

Womble's photobucket

....-2 Kudos..  Marxism is far left.  We had social security by FDR, and Clinton was socialist.    If you seen "The Bamboo Prision" you'll realize that all the Americans called the Communists "progressive" much like the Democratic Party now-a-days.  Now, Prof. Obama didn't exactly get his communist in the senate and House, so he created Czars to make him feel normal. Then there is the EPA full of Green Party members.  The White House can be Socially Liberal, and Fiscally Marxist.  The Marxist in government could be all crazed Korea/Nam vets (Stockholm syndrome).   http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=27592
