RCM October 2010 - Feedback thread
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:22:47 PM »
The others are probably still packing up so I thought I'd start this off (for a change).

Great day.  Great company.  Most excellent grub (esp. the chocolate cornflake cakes) and the curry was lovely too.

And overall, a damn good laugh.

And this time, I didn't win my own booby prize for the Bomberman competition and I've finally won something (well, two things) in the raffle :)  If Becky (at least I think it was Becky) hadn't forced me to part with my £4 towards the end of the day, I wouldn't have won anything :)

Always great to see everyone, and meet new faces, Rewind and Arthur from the netherlands to name but two.

Long day (well shorter for me after getting up late  :-\), but well worth it.

Best parts of the day for me were;
  • had to be the 10 player Bomberman, utterly superb, although I think next time it should be played on a 14" Portable  :P
  • Jimbob fixing my Amiga A1500
  • The Chili and Chips
  • Getting software to load on the Camputers Lynx

Downsides
  • Forgot to pay SK for the Tetris Cart
  • AndyT's PC blowing a gasket (would have liked to have seen it write some disks)
  • Still not unloaded the car from last night

As always, had a fantastic today and for me probably the best event so far despite not actually playing on many systems. I was just happy to soak up the atmosphere and chat to familiar folk and meet new new friends....which is probably due to my first ever event where 'shock horror' I was too busy to take many photos :o

Many many thanks to Mike for GC stuff and to Sophie/Dave for the Soul Caliber bouts.

Best bits -

The very best collection of computers and consoles on offer this time including the SX64, Camputers Lynx & Einstein.
Top nosh yet again, with two serving of chilli and chocolate cakes for moi
Spending time chatting to Rewind & Porchy
Besting my score on Defence Force - 741,760
Jon (Flicky's) treasure trove of low price retro goodies - 50p for PSX games....bonus!
Bomberman Tourney - even though i crashed out yet again, it's fair to say that this went down a storm with everyone.
..and to all the hilarious moments throughout the day that make each RCM events ever special.

Bad bits -

Only one, skipping a beat when the table fell to bits and my C64 PC crashed to the floor. Only glad that no one else's kit was was on top apart from mine. Thankfully, no damage done.

A huge thanks to Andy, Linda and the rest of the RCM team and best wishes for what the future holds.

Was a fantastic day, meeting TMC from the netherlands at last, catching up with old friends at the event, playing bezerk redux on the C64, actually having a hour with a Commodore Sx-64 (Drool), lovely Chilli and chips. . . . marble madness arcade cab! (oh mother!) - and my G.F Jackie winning the Arari Lynx for my collection (Works a treat BTW). So a great all rounder..

Well done Andy and Crew for a memorable day, Cu at the next one, or at R3play if you goin?

Party on

Thanks to everyone for another great event! It was good to see everyone again, and wonderful to try out so many rare systems and cool games (blown away by that ZX81 homebrew too). And my daughter is now a huge Bomberman fan :)

Look forward to seeing you at R3Play if you're going, I'm helping out with the competitions, so do grab me if you want to enter the Warlords contest there.

Was a brilliant event!

I enjoyed playing on so many systems I've not seen before, talking to the usual and meeting new people. Also enjoyed the Bomberman competition and the coffee  ;D

Many thanks
