Commodore OS Vision - comming soon.
« on: November 07, 2011, 12:36:52 PM »
Commodore USA have released details of their up and coming custom Linux distro for their new line of PC's. The OS will also be available as a free download.

As a Commodore fan and Linux user, very very excited. Wonder if my ITX c64 will be powerful enough to run it?

Details here-

Got it running on my netbook...will be installing on my c64 PC prob this weekend.

Not had a really good look at th extras yet, but pretty much Linux mint with a facelift...which isn't a bad thing as I happen to like that version.

We are at the unit on Saturday if you want to pick it up?
Cheers

See I looked at this OS and thought, "Ubuntu Studio with bits added".

Maybe the "native commodore" handling is somewhat smoother, but I'd rather use the real hardware for that :)

Otherwise its just a standard Linux install with a few (freely available) bits added.

Yeah, I get that. I'm just saying that it's not something that *only* Commodore can do. *

I already have a Linux desktop, so I won't be installing this, as I can already get everything it offers on my non-Commodore Linux box ;)

-- Richard

* Also, an Ubuntu-Studio-with-bits-added install can be done on 32bit hardware :P
