The bad urges are back...
« on: January 10, 2011, 05:27:31 AM »
... a tasty treat has appeared on the local forum, an original Atari Vindicators cabinet.

The price asked - $80, or in coin of the realm, a round fifty quid!

The only problem is that it is 650 miles away, am perusing shipping costs at the moment, some not bad, some scary.

Oh, and it doesnt work, lovely!

Only played this on the Spectrum so not sure what the arcade original was like. Interesting looking cab though, bit different from the usual.

Doesnt look like its going to be possible, the shipping costs range from cheap if I have a forklift, to so expensive I could fly up, hire a van and drive it back for less if I had the time.

Sounds like the owner is going to take a chainsaw to it and sell off the board which is a crying shame.

It would be, the seller has changed his tune again, he is on his 3rd tune now.

First he was going to sell it to me, then he was going to scrap it for parts and cut up the cabinet, currently it is on ebay and he says he will sell to me if it doesnt sell. As he has specified "pickup only, no couriers, will not pack or pallet" he has severely limited the buyer pool so it may not move. Tis up to the gods now anyway.

I asked the seller if he minded me bidding seeing as the auction specified he would not deal with couriers, he said he was happy for me to as long as there was no expectation he could get it on a pallet.

So I won the auction, accepted the shipping quote I got for it and am hoping it arrives in one piece, its an expensive purchase if it gets smashed (even tho its insured). It has a 1000km road trip ahead of it, apparently it starts out on Thursday.

Oh - its not for me, its for Harry!  ;)

Well it is now in Victoria somewhere, potentially delivered today or tomorrow, am hoping today as tomorrow is a pain for me to be at home.
