Hmmm .. retro-themed event on 'doorstep' so to speak.  Good friends from RCM going = bonus :)

Just can't buy a damn ticket until payday ... think I'll have a word with the landlord and request one to be put away for safe-keeping :)

Would be rude to miss this one, as only a hour or so away.

Cu there

A cheeky message to Gareth (Landlord at The Lass) to put two tickets to one side until payday and he's done that for me.  So I'll see you all there.  Bringing a non-retro mate as she wants to have a play on Sonic (on the Megadrive).

I don't think she'll be volunteering for the burlesque dance with Sonic .. but depends on how many pints of Betty's Best I can get her to drink first :)

I'll be there as its only 30min on the train. Going to book a cheap hotel on payday as I always end up going out round town for a few drinks :)

More than likely book a hotel but no idea what mate wants to do - as I know she likes a bevvy or six :)

Is this person part of the last place quiz team?

Nope but now that you've reminded me, I'll ask Lee if she wants to come too :)

It was one of those events (for me) where I didn't touch a single machine but still enjoyed myself.

The guy who formed Taskset was interviewed and dropped some nice anecdotes about Namco 'borrowing' a few ideas from the arcade game he wrote called 'The Pit' which, oddly enough, ended up in Dig Dug.  Also some not so nice anecdotes about the business during the 80s dealing with the big guns (Boots & WHSmith) and ... how much they *charged* to ensure his titles ended up in the following week's top 10!
(and quite a few of the industry veterans intimated it was still going on today!)

The other good bit was the guy (Graham Goring) who ported Wizball onto the PC for Retro Remakes also does a mean stand-up routine with the help of some good Powerpoint-type backing slides and music.  Quite tasteless in parts, which meant I enjoyed it all the more :)

The craic was excellent and that's what made it for me.  Didn't go back today as got to save up for High Voltage next weekend.

Nice to glimpse 'Sir Morris' and 'Prime' from here as put names to forum IDs.  Sir Morris was talking to a Dutch guy who'd flown over with some ports he'd written of other games ... but I can't remember the games or the system he'd ported them too.  However, Sir Morris had spotted my RCM t-shirt and said "Now their collection of systems is amazing" (paraphrasing here).  :)
