Sord M5 multicart
« on: June 09, 2011, 10:20:07 PM »
8K roms only at the moment, but I have plans for 16K w/RAM.

I'll be getting professional boards made, I expect the final price will be around £30.

You sir, are a freakin' GENIUS!

I take it they will work on BOTH the Sord and CGL M5? (AFAIK, there's no difference, other than the case colour and labelling!)

Please put me down for one.

Um? How are these to be marketed?

Regards
Mark

I was thinking of going down Tottenham Court Road with a big sign with 'golf sale' on it but with 'golf sale' crossed out and 'SMB's dodgy multicart sale' scribbled on it instead, in crayon.

Whaddya think? :)

I'm considering a run of 15 or 20, they'll be offered here and I may well put a couple on eBay just for the advertising. There's a sord m5 group on FB, I'll see about joining it.

<shrugs> the usual really.

As far as Sord vs CGL goes, there's no difference.

Definitely take one off your hands. Please put a tag in the ear of one of these little piggies for me.

Glad I could help enough with the schematics and scans of the carts I have....... everybody else line up behind me (I'll get one for RCM as well) so put me down for 2 when they are ready.

The latest build - completed all of 5 minutes ago - now supports all the Basic language images I,F and G. It has 32K of RAM on-board, just in case you need to type some BIG basic programs.

I put a PIC controller on there so that I can change banks on a button-press. It also resets the machine when pressed so you just jump straight into the next cart. I was considering disabling the RAM for the carts that don't need it as it adds a couple of seconds to cart start-up, but it would add a load of complexity.

It has 32 banks of 16K with the 20K basic-F image occupying the last 2 banks. The board layout was complete yesterday but at the insistence of Jason F I have had to rip up a large part of it and start again so the 20K cart support works :)

I now need some test programs so I can ensure that all is working as it should.

I'm having trouble posting pix - I'll see if they can follow.
