Andy Key (Memotech MTX) joined
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:11:04 PM »
Hi there.

Back in the late 80's I used to write games for the Memotech MTX.
I still have a Memotech system, a one-off variant of the MTX with SDX.
I can't get a stable TV picture, so I have to use an ancient green screen monitor.
I dont expect it to last much longer...

For those of you who might be interested in Memotech
http://www.nyangau.org/ is my site
http://www.nyangau.org/memotech/memotech.htm talks about Memotech stuff
http://www.nyangau.org/memu/memu.htm is my Memotech Emulator
http://www.nyangau.org/mfloppy/mfloppy.htm is a tool to read and write Memotech floppies

My interest here is in capturing Memotech stuff before it stops working.

Andy,
You won't believe how excited we are to have you on here. A lot of us here love the memotech and the Retro Computer Museum has a couple but as you already know they are slowly failing. :(
We were recently given a RS128 which again is slightly poorly at the moment.
Don't suppose you have a FDX lying around somewhere do you that needs a new home?
Cheers
Andy

Used to have FDX long ago, but no more.
It had 5.25" (B:) and 2x8" disks (D: and E:), and at one point, I even had a 3.5" drive connected (as C:).
Didn't have Silicon Disc nor Hard Disk.
My special one-off MTX/SDX system replaced the above.

I think there are folks out there with FDXs, and at least one guy in the Netherlands has one (but no boot disk to use it).

If I become aware of anyone wanting to donate or sell, I'll let you know.
