Vectrex Regeneration
« on: November 20, 2012, 11:22:46 PM »
Been looking forward to this one for ages now. Vectrex comes to iPad/iPhone (Android to follow) in t-minus 8 days  ;D On ios you can use an iPad as the Vectrex console and a iPhone as a Vectrex controller. It also supports the iCade too, although how well the analogue controls will transfer to the digital iCade will remain to be seen. I'm guessing, it'll work with my 8-bitty too as its based on the icade SDK.

8 days is before the RCM members event too so if I have it and its ok with Andy, I'll bring my iPad/icade setup with me if anyone wants to try it out that weekend?

I was thinking of bringing my iCade with my iPad version of MAME4All.

Worth it do you think?

Cheers...

All ready got iMame installed and loaded mate as well as few other emu bits n bobs.

Also got Blutroll installed to provide iCade support for those games that originally didn't support it. Great for ios ports of Tekken v SF & Soul Caliber etc.

There was two versions but this was purely cosmetic in design. Both are standard Bluetooth devices. A friend of mine uses his icade on his Android tab so I'm guessing it'll work. If you're going to the members doo at the weekend, I'll have my icade with me so feel free to bring your android device with you and we'll see if we can get it working. Same goes for any one else thats going.

Will also bring my 8-bitty controller too which is practically the same device but in a NES style controller case. Perfect for  gaming with proper buttons instead of all that touchscreen malarky.

Was released this morning and boooo, it doesn't work on my iPad 2 despite it advertised as running on IOS 5 and upwards. Currently am running 5.0.1 which i don't want to upgrade as i''l loose my jailbreak until 6.0.1 has been done.

Works fine on my iPhone 4 (IOS 6) but unless they can fix the bug (which appears to be effecting a few folks) before Saturday I won't be able to show n tell with the iCade this weekend. (will still bring the iCade for Android testing though). Oh well, we'll just have to play on a real Vectrex :-)

I will do just that. Given the poo poor internet at the HQ....do I need to preinstall any controller software?  ;D

Sweet, yep i think the iCade has now got pretty good support on Andi devices via various emu's so no additional software required. Should work fine with the 8-Bitty too. See you at the weekend.
