RM Nimbus Hard Disks
« on: June 29, 2014, 07:48:55 PM »
Hi All,

I've seen a few mentions of RM Nimbus 186 machines on here. I have recently got hold of one with a failed hard disk which I am looking to replace. I have an identical disk but I cannot get the nimbus to recognise it as it cannot read the partition table. I have tried partitioning it in DOS using fdisk and the harddisk.exe utility that comes with the Nimbus without any success, it looks like it uses a different partition format or stores it on a different part of the disk.

If anyone has any insights into this, it would be much appreciated!

What sort of hard disk do you have, I have a disk with the low level formatters for the Nimbus, including one hacked so it will format any compatible SCSI drive to Nimbus format, and not just the ones that RM officially supported.

I could make a disk image and post here if you want.

Cheers.

Phill.
