It is our 10th Birthday in early July so to celebrate that fact we are having a birthday party. The event will run from 10am until around 6pm with reasonably priced food and drinks available throughout the day and this time the bar will be open from 12 noon until the end at 6pm.

To make it really special and to say thank you to your support there is no charge for entry* Yep, you read that right - no charge*

*Of course you can donate if you want to . . . any amount is lovely! Simply go to our MyDonate page and fill in the details - if you are a Tax payer please do click on the gift aid part - it makes a lot of difference to us and won't affect you at all. Or if you want to - you can donate on the day - our charity buckets will be strategically positioned so you can't miss them!

I would just like to say a massive thank you to all the lads and lasses at RCM who made this a great day out (sorry I had to leave earlier than planned  duty called and all that)
Great to put faces to names, and the museum itself, what a bloody little gem this is!
Not just the hardware but a cracking library too.

It was nice to come within STEALING I mean looking distance of  a Jupiter Ace ;D and to see my beloved 81 holding its own amongst all the 8 bit muscle machines was a joy also.

On a more serious note it should be said that repositories such as these are so important as they are, in my opinion, a snapshot of a very important period in UK computing history where for a brief moment in time we were amongst the very best in the world. Because of the 8-bit explosion computing was taken out of the hands of the "white coat" technicians and put into the hands the the guy/gal in the street, and happily (for me personally) into the hands of people like Charlie Robson and Andy"Professor"Rea.

I have lost count the number times I have heard people say "yeah I'm in IT-program design-web development or whatever because mum and dad got me a ZX81/Oric/BBC etc way back then" I reckon a lot of people owe their careers to those heady days in the 80's when the name Sinclair was on every-bodies lips and if it were not for places like RCM and more importantly the PEOPLE who dedicate the most important thing in their possession,THEIR TIME, then all the above could end up as nothing more than an interesting if badly worded Wikipedia entry, no doubt crediting our colonial cousins across the water with invention of the BBC model B! Well they did invent Colossus didn't they?(tongue firmly in cheek)

In conclusion I think it's safe to say a small but very important part of our heritage is in safe hands, long may it continue and to Andy and his band of merry men and women please accept this Moggies grateful thanks for the warm welcome, a wonderful day and thanks also for looking after our past, hopefully, long into the future.

Moggy.
