Open Pandora . . .
« on: March 01, 2009, 09:59:39 PM »
One of our members, PubZombie as he is known on here, has the honour of interviewing the guys behind the Open Pandora project . . . http://openpandora.org/
He has asked me (as Mr Boss Man! LOL!) to talk to you guys to see if anybody has any questions that he could put to them.
Please keep this on our forum only please as he wants to keep it fairly quiet so that nobody else can steal this prize from him.

If you want to post here, please do - if you want to PM me or PubZombie that is also fine!

Thanks on behalf of PZ and myself.

Hi guys and thanx Andy,
Cheers Duddyroar for posting that, i hadnt found that one. the Interview i want to do ( I have been away with the military for a few days so wont be getting things together till after B-Back event) is going to be more related to games preservation and the open source scene. I have a couple of articles planned (just throwing mud at the wall and seeing what sticks atm; it is not definite that anything will come this yet ) the one I am most interested in is about us retro geeks actually being games historians/archivists, and by using the panny we preserve software and roms etc. I am currently looking at a few questions in the following areas - History; technology;legality;gaming and emulation; development problems and issues;sales.
any questions you can think of will be warmly received, you guys here have far more knowledge than me regarding retro machines, so I am especially interested in questions regarding our own particular interests in the pandora and RCM issues.
I am waiting for my panny with baited breath - its just taking ages to arrive.

I gave up my pre-order slot when they decided that they couldn't accept credit card orders for the first batch. I know it was all down to the banks and I really do have confidence in the project but I just didn't feel comfortable spending that kind of money without the backup of the card insurance. :( :( :(

Ah well, maybe I'll get in on batch 2.

Really want one of these but missed out on the pre-orders as I only found out a few months ago. Lack of money now means I'll have to wait a long time.

Question: Will they really sell it in the UK at normal conversion rate and not do like the usual USA trick of stuffing the price up just for the UK market.

I'm sure they were £200 when I first seen them but the pre-orders had finished. Well worth getting one of these for that price. Can't wait to try one out.
