I know what you mean! :( - XP Professional was much better! Hopefully Windows 7 will be a bit better! :)

Sorry I don't have a spare copy of XP Professional though mate! :(

Do you need a CD KEY with it? or just the CD?

If it's just the CD, I have plenty.
If you require a CD KEY with it, then I 'may' have a legit XP Pro kicking around, but I need to go and check when I'm back at home.

btw. I 100% agree with you, Windows XP Professional is miles better than Vista ..... I've also tried Windows 7 and think that's crap too.

For future reference if you are buying a new PC then get Vista business as it can be downgraded to XP-Pro on the same license.

Not much help now though :(

Saying that, still prefer Linux....

Some manufacturers (such as Fujitsu-Siemens and Dell) do what's called a 'twinload'
I don't know why they call it that, as it doesn't have both OSes on it!
Anyway, if you get Vista Business, and go for the twinload, you get an XP Pro 'downgrade' CD.

Im with you on that one. Just wish Apple would allow OS X to be installed on PCs. (Without going down the 'hackintosh' route - which I have tried!)

I bought a laptop with Vista Basic and must say its terrible. I'm thinking of going back to XP or Windows 98 second edition.

Try amazon.co.uk, I'm sure I seen some there a while back when looking for XP Home.

Yuck! Vista Basic is appawling!
XP would be a good choice.
However, I can almost guarentee that you won't be able to get Windows 98 drivers for your new laptop, meaning Win98SE is out the question.

In that case, I have loads of original XP Pro CDs .... just not any CD keys for them (as they've all been activated on old PCs in the past)
Let me know if you want one ..... they're not worth owt if you ask me, but anyway, the choice is yours

Just remember - Some OEM XP CDs are brand specific. For example, a Dell XP CD wont work on a Sony.

There are websites out there that tell you how to change the OEM branding on a CD. Google for it....

I'll fig them out and sort one out for you

Good point to bring up!
Although my XP Pro CDs are OEM versions ..... they are not brand specific versions, and hence, will work on ANY PC.
I can provide pictures if need be, but I'm sure all XP discs look very similar !?!

Most of them are original XP Pro CDs (in otherwords, they don't have any Service Packs slipstreamed) but I may have the odd XP Pro with SP2 integrated kicking around.
These CDs have come from me going through PCs like nobody's business .... I build a PC, then I get bored of it and sell it .... then I build another etc.
Most of the time, I've ended up selling the PC with XP Pro installed but forgot to give the XP CD so have ended up with load of XP Pro CDs

My XP CDs with 'no key' are going for postage costs only!
I don't think I can be bothered charging for them!

Saying that, I think I'm out now, as I've had interest by PM from a few, so looks like I may have flogged all the non-branded ones.

I do, however, have a Dell XP Pro OEM and a Fujitsu-Siemens XP Pro OEM if anybody's interested? Yet again, will cost postage or can collect from me at the next event.

No question Pro is stable and the best core OS , Vista has to much window dressing and redundant code... Window 7 is good once setup.

BIGGEST drawback on XP Pro these days is the lack of DX10, unless using hacked dx10 which is not very stable. Compare a DX9 game to a DX10 one and you realise that Microsoft are eventually going to push XP users over wether they want to or not.

All else fails Im sure I have a pro CoA lurking around somewhere.

Don't worry mate! I didn't think for one minute that you were 'price driving' ..... just that I think a CD only is worth bugger all without the licence agreement and COA/CD-key

Well, XP is more stable than Vista or Win7, but I wouldn't say XP is the best Windows version ever created.
I would say that Windows 2000 was better than XP, but today, it's no longer a viable option, leaving XP as being the best 'current' Windows OS.

Windows 3.11 FTW  ;D
I'm glad you've said that .... I've NEVER had Windows 3.11 crash ever except for once, which was caused by me using incorrect network card drivers.
Win311 is solid!
