Hi Flump

before you goo, I now have more info as promised, this item was manufactured as a 3rd party add on a number of op systems including MSDOS PCDOS CP/M etc aver 40 machines listed, including the Colour Genie with 32K and the updated ROM set. You can determine ROM revision by pressing :-

Shift F2     = SYSTEM
Shift F3     = CSAVE

Additionally, the screen display will be 40X25 lines and not 40X24.

You will also need a version of the revised basic ROM, but I do have somepatches for this if you havent.

To used with any other computer you need a piece of software for which I have the listing if you are into basic. Any more info, no problem.

Incidently, I may be interested if its not already gone

Regards All

Hi Andy

Sorry havent been around much lately owing to a number of minor health problems. The boot sales have been rained off as well so all round the last few weeks has been a bit of a bummer.
The interface you describe could be for the Colour Genie. The CG was manufatured by Lowe Electronics of Hong Kong, the first machines were offered as a kit of parts (this is how I obtained mine), its main advantage is that all the Genie range (Made by Lowe that is, there are other "Genie" machines which are nothing to do with and are not compatible with the Lowe product.) are plug compatible and nearly plug compatible with the TRS 80, Dragon etc all are system compatible. I have a lot of documentation for the CG and will sift through it for data.
I think Flump may have a 3rd party TRS 80 product which should be OK with the CG.

Regards to all and welcome to Flump

Hi I'm Robby

Dont usually use forums as such until now that is. My interest in retro computers started about a week ago when I mtd the attic of all the machines there, a further week was spent reliving certain years of my life (my wife still doesnt believe me that I was playing the origional space invader in the gararge). One of the first game I ever played was Dungeons and Dragons on the Essex Uni Prime, using a Colour Genie as a terminal. I was "Snert the Dog" if anyone else was there.

My first computers were military so the less said about them the better (they still had a joystick port although everone else said it was for comms, !!!!).

Looking forward to the Exhibitian

Regards to all

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Re: Ebay Gems..
« on: August 12, 2008, 04:34:51 PM »
I often see old machines at the local boot sales, comments else where on this forum would suggest that boot sales are not fertile ground for the machines we would be interested in. e.g. I bought a spare cassette for the CBM64/VIC20 and a "Goupol Golf" Sunday last, total expenditure £2.50. The Goupol is a french machine of uncommon design, its format is supposed to be a luggerable of the late 80's early 90's, it has a full sized P2 motherboard, 2 free slots,HD of unknown size(guess about 10-20MB) and 3.5 floppy drive, full size qwerty keyboard and a gas plasma screen. Its in very good condition and would proberly accept a normal modern motherboard if one was to be sacrligous. It doesnt work as is at the moment though although the screen raster's and back lighting works OK, fans and HD strt etc so this should be an easy one to sort. No books or disk though which is a shame
Regards to everyone
