GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Re: Retrovision 2010
« on: December 16, 2009, 07:09:40 PM »
I wouldn't worry about the ticket sales too much Steve, you know everyone leaves it till the last minute... Bit puzzled about 88 names on the list yet you say only 35 have bought tickets though???

I'm looking forward to it anyway. I am slowly returning from my self-imposed retro gaming exile and it will be good to catch up with you lot again! ;)

FOR SALE / WANTED / Games clearout - Funspot Fundraiser
« on: December 13, 2009, 07:24:11 PM »
We're intending to go on a trip to the Funspot Tournament in America next year (and then on to Alaska) so I'm looking to raise a bit of extra cash by selling some of the many games that I've bought that I'll never have the time or inclination to play (so you'll see quite a few RPGs on the list below!)

This list will be updated with more games for other systems soon, but for starters here's my first wave of sales... All items are boxed with instructions and are PAL versions unless noted. Prices do not include postage and I'm open to offers! If you need pictures of specific items please let me know.

Payment by cheque or Paypal - I don't expect you to make a 'Gift' payment if you choose the latter.

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Re: Sega megadrive - unusual cartridge
« on: December 07, 2009, 10:27:19 PM »
The game is probably an Asian (Hong Kong usually) bootleg - they usually have PAL documentation/layout but a Jap cartridge shell.

If as I suspect it is a bootleg, there won't be any issue with region lockout other than the cartridge not fitting a standard PAL console as boots are obviously made cheaply and the manufacturers wouldn't want to make them incompatible with any system...

RCM GAMING EVENTS - OPEN DAYS 2010 / Re: Events for 2010 . . .
« on: November 25, 2009, 07:45:07 PM »
Is drinking & eating such a big deal?

To me it is, yeah! Being diabetic means not eating is not an option, and sinking a few beers with friends is always enjoyable! ;)

As Starship has said, if the event becomes a 2-dayer in a venue in close proximity to some accommodation then you'll see the beer flow... That said, it will make the RCM event basically the same as all the other events (Byte Back, Retro Reunited etc) so do you really want that?

With regard to Friday access, both myself and SirClive negotiated free access to our venues on the night before the event started - if the venue sees the potential income, you won't have an issue with this I'm sure...

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Recommendations of Electronics books or websites?
« on: November 25, 2009, 07:37:54 PM »
My mate is interested in learning a bit about electronics and since I know a few of you guys are knowledgeable about such things, I wondered if there are any good resources (online or in print) that he should take a look at?

Any suggestions?  :)

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Re: Wish list - What's yours ?
« on: October 08, 2009, 01:15:15 PM »
There are no systems I really want now, already have everything I need (and more!)

I would however REALLY like an Atari Star Wars Cockpit and an original dedicated Bubble Bobble. Anyone got a spare couple of grand to help me obtain these? ;)

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Re: Favourite GTA game? (any console/format)

Vice City for me, I spent over 50 hours playing that game!  ;D

The original top-down one was great for it's time though...

GAMING . . . / Re: Robotron 2084
« on: October 02, 2009, 01:26:46 PM »
I've been playing it quite a lot this week on my MAME cab, including a few goes before work this morning! It's the perfect time-killer when you have ten minutes because the average game probably only lasts a couple of mins... :D

My top score is just over 148,000 - is that any good or not?
