GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / De-yellowing retro kit
« on: September 11, 2014, 06:53:40 PM »
How do you clean up your retro kit so it's nice and original looking rather than the horrible yellowed plastic look? Do you use a bucket of bleach or retr0bright etc?

OFF TOPIC / Can anyone help RGB mod a PC Engine?

I thought it would be so easy.. nope. Turns out my soldering skills are a LOT worse than I initially thought and I'm worried I'll cause some damage if I even try to do this.

Basically I need the unit modifying for RGB output via a 9pin DIN socket (Sega Megadrive2 style). The old RF block needs desoldering, wires attached to the ext bus pins to tap the RGB bits and bobs then all soldered up to the socket.

Anyone able to help with this please? I've looked around for anyone doing it on other forums and websites but either they don't get back to me or they just want to install a cable coming out of the side which is not what I want at all.

I have all the components so really just need a solderer. Anyone up for the task? Thank you :D

(slightly upset that I've spent money on getting all the bits, soldering kit etc and I'm a complete and utter idiot)

I'm on the hunt for a C64 and theres a guy on ebay not far from me that has a few units for £30 without power supplies, but have been tested working. Question is are power supplies easy to get hold of or is it even possible to buy third party psus or build them?

Or should I just pay the extra £40 for a C64 that comes complete? Is an old original PSU even going to be reliable?
