After viewing the video Alex posted:
Which shows the C64SD Running on Commodore Plus 4.

Unfortunately unlike the Vic 20 and C64, no dedicated Multicarts or Loading Devices have been created for the C16/Plus 4.

Although the C64SD works, its main downfall is the lack of a Menu Loading program for loading games. While the VIC20 and C64 has an excellent Menu loader called CBM FileBrowser (more info at there has not been any such Menu Loaders written for the Plus 4 for use with this device yet, which is a shame.

If anyone knows of any programs like CBM FileBrowser for the Plus 4, or has the knowledge and interest to program something similar for the Plus 4, I would be very interested (and am sure a few other people would be as well).

HARDWARE/SYSTEMS DISCUSSION / Einstein and HXC Floppy Drive Emulator
« on: August 05, 2011, 12:31:47 AM »
Just going back to this thread:

The Floppy Drive Emulator can be connected and is known to work for most games, but not all.

Does anyone have any more information on how to hook up a HXC Floppy Drive Emulator to an Einstein, and if any different floppy drive leads are needed and if so what the connections would be, and also what settings need to be used on the HXC?

There is very little info about using the Floppy Drive Emulator with the Einstein - infact, they do not even list the Einstein as a supported system on their site  :(

If anyone also knows what games have problems, and why they don't work (uncracked copy protection I am currently guessing), I would be grateful.

I took 3 systems along this weekend which were assigned to the small room to the left of the entrance. I would have preferred them to have gone in the main room, perhaps on the tables next to Kenz that were left empty all weekend, but nevermind.

I left them alone, checking up on them every so often and trusted people, that they would be OK in there.

At some time around 1PM and 2:30PM on Sunday my Master System Everdrive cart went "missing". This is a PCB card with an SD Card sticking out the top, as shown in this picture:

Please can anyone let me know if for some reason they took this out of the Master System and put it somewhere else. There was really no need to remove this from the system at all, as there were no other carts lying around and it is difficult to remove from the system.

I can therefore only presume someone must have stolen it, which is bang out of order and understandably has made me really pissed off, upset and depressed. Not only did it cost me $79.99 for the cart and £5 for the 2GB SD card, I was planning on taking it to RV in two weeks time and the shop is currently out of stock so I am unable order a replacement.

If anyone took it by accident, please contact me. If anyone saw anyone take it (unlikely I know!) or if anyone said anything to anyone or wants to own up to taking it (again, unlikely I know!) Please can you contact me.

The card has a unique fault so if it does show up anywhere I will know it is mine.

GENERAL RETRO CHIT CHAT / Retrovision 2011
« on: April 15, 2011, 04:13:07 AM »
Main Threads here:

and here:

And FaceBook here:

I know many here won't be able to make it being just a few weeks after the RCM Event (It was moved to later in the year to have better weather for the BAR-B-Q and to avoid the risk of snow like the last few years!), but if you are still craving some Retro Gaming Action after RCM, please feel free to come along - even if its just for a few hours! This is a Free Event this year and RCM Crew and Forum Members are welcome!

The team for RV2011 this year consists of:

Also helping out are PinkFearie who is organising and running a charity auction and who is running a Commodore 64 competition and Samwise who is running a Acorn Atom competition.

There is a row of B&Bs within a few minutes walk of the pub and at last check, all still had rooms available for the weekend except for the Falcon who seem to be fully booked for Friday Night and are being snobish and only accepting bookings for a two night stay from Saturday, as well as being rather overpriced (their problem!)

The other B&Bs to try are:

White House View.

Sportsview Guest House.

Newton House Guest House.

And it is sometimes worth phoning or E-Mailing to book, as you sometimes get lower rates then those advertised on their online booking websites.

There is very limited parking in the Pub Car Park and most of this will be used by those taking equipment. There are also parking restrictions on the roads around the pub, due to it being so close to Oxford City Center. Most the B&Bs listed above have their own small private car parks, which we recommend you use. Last time I checked the residential roads around Lake Street and below have no parking restrictions. These roads are a 5-10 minute walk to the pub and are shown in the link below:,+Oxford&daddr=Folly+Bridge+Inn,+Oxford&hl=en&geocode=Fe96FQMd6dbs_ymVZvAVyMZ2SDHF7bCuZHwzOA%3BFfSLFQMdWNXs_yGr24H9IxLJNCl_yFgUt8Z2SDEcjgmaZ_0eXg&mra=ls&sll=51.740284,-1.254845&sspn=0.001511,0.003449&ie=UTF8&ll=51.741394,-1.25493&spn=0.006378,0.013797&t=h&z=16

We have been planning and working hard for the last year (HAHA!) and have the following planned:

A large room full of modern and retro goodness to play on.
Popular systems with a selection of Multicarts for unlimited gaming choices.
Mame Machines.
Laptops for Homebrew Gaming.
Taiko Drum Master (by Popular Request!)
Gaming Competitions.
Pong on a very small B&W TV.
Evening Rock Band Sessions with the new Rock Band 3 Keyboard (Woooo!)
Charity Auction organised by Pinkfearie.
The Table of Crap (For items to crap to put in the charity auction)
The Cool Wall (AKA- The Signing In Wall!)
The Pizzas, The BarBQs, The Sunday Roasts, The Currys and The Mixed Grills (for Bane!).

Like previous RVs, there should also be a few special guests attending this year :-)

There are 5 amazing competitions taking place this year, and these will be announced the week before RV2011.

SPECIAL REQUEST! - If you are coming and have a Nintendo DS (Any Type), please can you bring it along. PsychoRob will be running a massive Competition which requires as many DSs as possible, as well as using it to join in the DictoChat sessions on Sunday. We will label your DS if you want us to so it will not get mixed up. If anyone has a new 3DS please bring it along, as I would like to have a go on one :-)

SECOND REQUEST - If anyone has a XBox Kinect and some games they would be willing to loan for the event, please contact me. We will have a few old-style XBoxes (as they do like to RROD), so just need to borrow the Kinect with PSU and games. Again, this is because I would like a go (but I am sure others will too!)

A word from the Stabby one:

I am organising a charity auction to raise more funds for the Cancer Charity.

If you have anything you don't need, gaming and pc related please post here what you would like to bring along to RV. If you cannot make it to RV but would like to contribute something for the auction please contact us.

The auction will take place on the Saturday evening :-)

Thank you all in advance.

And a final word from Markie:

As you know this years event is free but you must have a ticket. This is downloadable from:

Also, I'm taking this moment to remind you all that this year there will be 2 people missing from our gathering, those being Ian Muir (elizian) and Paul Hadrill (DJ Skitz) who were both taken from us by cancer.

So, free event but I'm asking you to make a donation, whatever you like and all the funds we gather will be forwarded to the respective charities.

Donations can be made at the event.

Thank you ... thank you all, see you in May

Markie and Team
