Sorry, but I've also already put my name down for the other event in Leicester that weekend. D'oh!

Hopefully catch up with you all at the next RCM do :)

RCM GAMING EVENTS - OPEN DAYS 2011 / Re: Feedback on Accomodation

Broadlawns, as above ^

Was a bit like a Motel! The rooms looked new and were very clean. Was fairly cheap plus had plenty of parking, and free WiFi. The owner was pleasant and very helpful (I kept pestering him for take-away and taxi info :P). Also, as Mark said, Breakfast was great. Was only a couple of minutes away from the event, so pretty cheap in taxi fares :)

Would definitely stay there again if there was another Weekender.

An enjoyable weekend! Always good to see & chat to familiar faces, and to speak to people I haven't had a chance to before. I've always loved the fun, friendly atmosphere of RCM :)

The Pac-Man DX competition ;D
Multiplayer gaming
The Raffles
Having a go on some systems I haven't seen or played on before
Filecore's stall which had a good selection of stuff for sale
Enjoying a drink with everyone on Saturday evening and chatting to the Oldenburg Museum guys
Not having to do all the travelling in one day!

Bomberman competition - I enjoyed it but like others have said, I thought it went on for a bit too long
Couldn't get the SX-64 to work :(

Some of the systems could do with a second controller, plus more 2 player games. Also, some of the older systems had the odd faulty controller which could do with repairing/replacing.

Both of us got refunds... plus with the extra one they sent by accident means we got £60 worth of vouchers for a tenner. Good times!

I think it looks great! Well done!

Although, like Woody, the shoutbox isn't working for me either.

We're going. I'm up in Blackpool quite often with work, but never actually been to any of the arcades or Pleasure Beach :(

I've booked a room at that Premier Inn by the MEN. Stayed there before and it was great for the price.

MEN looks to be about half a mile walk with free parking, which should not be too much hassle.

It is walkable - loads of pubs to stop by on the walk back from the event too. I think I'll be taxiing it in the mornings though!

Happy belated Birthday !

Just listened to your Secret of Mana theme. It's really lovely! Excellent work :)

Not long after getting into Final Fantasy, we got the internet at home (oooh, dial up!). Originally I started using Tifa (FFVII) as a username but it was far too popular so I started using Rinoa from the not yet released Final Fantasy VIII. Over ten years later and I'm still using it :)

We're with BT (for obvious reasons ;)). Now just waiting for that lovely fibre to kick in...

12:15 Actually having a break from Final Fantasy XI! Damn that game's addictive. Also having problems with the 360 at the moment. Not sure if it's the USB port or the wireless adapter (or maybe something else completely), but something's not working right...

I'll be giving this one a miss. A three and a half hour event doesn't justify all the travelling for me :(

It's in Sheffield (Hallam University Student's Union) on April 10th & 11th, £12 per ticket.

Sscott from the Retro Gamer forum's organising this one, with help from Arcadian.

More details here:

There's no official website (doesn't look like there'll be one now) but if anyone wants tickets just PM Sscott on RG.
