Hi everyone, I've just started this Retro lark and have collecting hardware from my childhood. Just a few to start with the TRS 80 color, Amiga 500 and wait for it drum roll please... Intertec Superbrain QD. The Superbrain is a at the moment non working but it's my first proper computer restoration job. So if anyone out there knows of this machine, parts, software and manuals I would very grateful.
Best regards
Stephen

Hi guys, I started out with a ZX81 for school computer studies, (1st year that was able to take the subject in 1981 at Summerhill School Kingswinford) I played around in basic but never got into machine code. 2nd machine a Amstrad CPC 464 (green screen) played too many games on this, then a 286, 386, 486 etc. Started to build and supply home pc setups, lots of fun back then. Today my son has just graduated in IT from Uni and has well and truly overtaken me in programming terms but we will be coming to visit RCM very soon and have a play.
Cheers

Hi Graham,
Welcome to the forum and congratulations to your son. Hope to meet you soon at the RCM, I'm there most Sundays.
I can empathise about having a son who's now better at programming - my Computer Science degree is 25 years old and I ended up fixing them for a living instead of programming them. My eldest son is in his third year of a Computer Science with Games Development degree. What makes me feel old is the fact that the only programming language that James has been taught that was around when I was in Uni is C++, and at the time my Lecturers refused to teach it to us because they did not approve of Object Orientated Programming Languages saying they would never take off because it was a wasteful way of programming.

Hi Folks,
My names Andy, am from Liverpool and have recently come into a bunch of old speccy stuff. Having no clue about any of it, I figured I would sign up and see if anyone can help me out as to what I have and whether its worth anything. And to maybe educate myself a little on the subject.

Hello Andy,
Good to hear from you! We (and especially me) love the speccy. You have a lovely collection there that is worth something - especially if it is all working. However after saying that - not something that I would get rid of . . . unless I donated to a well known computer museum
If you need any assistance please shout.
Andy

I am the owner of an Acorn Atom which I have restored and fitted it with a new power supply.I am 80 years old and always regretted parting with the computer. I have fitted it with a device to load and save programmes on a SD card. Looking forward to absorbing the contents of the manual and undertaking some machine code work.
Then I saw another one for sale in very poor condition and to my surprise there was a colour board inside which is quite rare. I can now switch from colour to black and white. I have restored this one for sale minus the colour board.
There was also a 4 slot Rom board inside by Micro Power Ltd with 2 Rom chips. But I do not know how to select each Rom. Does anyone know something about this?

Hi I’m Bob ,have been into computer for many years, I was looking to give away my really old computer games and consuls. I looked around and found retro. So I donated my equipment to them. They do a real good job with all the older machines, repairing and servicing them. I still have quite a few bits I’d like to donate after I have sorted them out of the attic...
