Hi there!
« on: July 29, 2011, 04:04:37 PM »

Found this website while searching for BBC Micro related stuff. You're got a really nice project going on here and I must confess to being a little bit envious as my old boss and myself chatted about creating a museum of old computers over 20 years ago!

I've worked in computer stores since I was 18 (now 44) and have owned my own store for 17 years now.  My computer route went something like this:

Acorn Atom --> BBC B --> Amiga 500 --> Amstrad 2286 --> Amiga 500+ -->PC compatibles

Sega Master System --> Sega Megadrive --> Sega Dreamcast --> Nintendo Gamecube --> Nintendo Wii

Just bought myself a pristine example of a BBC B and a collection of about 30 books (most look untouched!) and am reliving my early programming days.

Would like to recreated my old setup though I mainly use a BBC emulator on my PC, which included:

BBC Model B, Cub monitor, Cumana 400K 5.25" Drive, Panasonic 1081 dot matrix printer (!!).

Would love to visit your centre when I'm passing some time - which I do quite often as I live in Somerset and most of my family are in Northumberland.

Good luck in the future - I think there's a big increase in interest in old computers as some of us oldies start getting nostalgic for the time computers were exciting and mysterious beasts.

Nice one mate - thanks for your kind words - makes it all worthwhile.
You certainly had some nice computers and consoles! :)

Welcome Martin,

Keep an eye out for when the museum opens, it should be sometime soon.  :)
