Event was fine for me .. only downside was the "reception" we got in the only pub in the village -

Are you local? We'll have no trouble here!

Was Papa Lazarou in the pub too? That would really scare me shitless if he appeared!

The baked potatoes were worth the walk back though :)

Hate to think how much that Wesleyan Chapel will be for someone (with way too much money) to buy and to heat up!

Hi Andy

Although I unfortunately could not make the event due to work :( if ever you need any help or advice regarding setting up or help with exhibitions I offer my advice for free.  Having set up and organised several exhibitions with The Museum of Computing I am more than adequately qualified to help.

You seem to have done pretty well on your own, but any help is better than none.

Bri.

Together me and Simon our curator came up with the Pong to Playstation set up and that went quite well. :)

Off the top of my head...

First thing for me would be to have everything in one room - having the second room was strange, I didn't even notice it was there for a while!

More organised competitions would be good to, highest score on Chuckie Egg / Frogger / Tempest 2000 etc (and that four-player Pac-Man game where you control the ghosts - forget it's name now).  Perhaps some kind of winner-stays-on system too?

And perhaps just more information - I wasn't aware of the bring & buy and things (maybe there was a high-score competition?)

It was definitely good though, and would bring the good lady next time as it was very friendly.

Thanks for the feedback!

One thing, there should have been a high score competition but time ran away with me unfortunately - :( so sorry about that!

I will definately do it next time, basically it was going to be Chuckie Egg on the BBC, Manic Miner on the Speccy, Space Invaders on the Atari VCS and Superfrog on the Amiga but this is can be changed to incorporate any other games - feedback on this - maybe on another thread somewhere?

I also agree that the second room was a little bit of a problem - although next year we are considering using all three rooms - and putting different machines in each room . . . again feedback . . . ?

I'm happy to provide Jaguar and Tempest 2000 for a high score competition....If I can use the same TV again!

I'd suggest putting Rock Band into one of the rooms, Possibly a Wii too (if somone has one)

How about the other room for eating / storage or displaying non working machines?

I don't agree, it didn't seem strange to me.

You'd never get Mug and Slick off of the Jaguar.
maybe next year they will let you use the fusball and pool tables when you hire the hall though

Rock Band is great. The music from it adds to the atmosphere, i don't play it.

It would be too quiet and dull without some loud music, the novelty of hearing all the video games playing around the room would wear off.

When I arrived, I asked myself what that cool music was that was playing. It turned out to be Rock Band. ;D

You know its funny we had a Jaguar running Tempest 2000 at the Pong to Playstaion exhibition and no one would ever go near the Jaguar with a bargepole.  I was the only person who would play it.

Odd but true
