Atari (fragile) Lynx
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:44:26 PM »
Hi, 2nd Atari Lynx II arrived DOA. This time I opened it up and looks like the mosfet Q12 component needs replacing from the googling Ive done. It powers on ok if you put a wire between the battery - and headphone - ( I think ! ) . Cant see any instructions on line on how to replace this, has anyone else done this fix ?

wondering if its just a case of cutting the two legs of the MOSFET and resoldering a replacement

You could do it that way if you are not able to desolder it without damaging the traces.

Atari Lynx number 3 arrived today in according to the ebay listing "working order". Looks like another mosfet issue arrgghh !! After my soldering disaster with the gamegear not sure if I am brave enough to attempt to replace the mosfet, looks very fiddly to do ...
