Another intro . . . very early stages though!
« on: December 12, 2008, 10:35:14 PM »
Something else I have been working on . . .

A huge thank you to Shockwave for this one - I am using some of his 'framework' code here!

I hope you like it - so far . . .

Yay! Cool that someone is using that framework.

Are you using the old version of tiny_ptc?
If you have still got the old one, you'll love the new one by Rbz, it's just a matter of one download and copying 3 files to upgrade it (I can talk you through it on msn if you're worried about breaking anything).

Later on today or possibly tomorrow I will release a tutorial / lib that I've developed.

In a nutshell it allows you to create an 800 * 600 screen, you can lay out all your intro graphics on that screen, save the image, click one batch file to convert it and then there is an easy to use function that allows you to blit sections of that screen into your tinyptc demo (with or without masking).

It's blitting functions use optimised assembly language and pointers so it's pretty quick and it's really easy to use... Almost as easy as it can get!

For example, you could put a font, logo, sprites etc all on the same screen.
It will make games and intro developemnt more straight forward in tinyptc and freebasic.

Best of all it will be compatible with that framework you're using there.

Was there supposed to be an end and a return to the desktop?  Had to alt & tab and close down the DOS window before I could get my Vista laptop back to normal?

Probably more to do with my built-in video card than anything else :)

BUGGER! I know what was wrong now - I updated Freebasic the other day to the latest version! and of course it replaced all of the libs etc. and I forgot to put Rbz's new version back on! The demo now flows much better and you can also quit using escape! :)

Looking forward to your new tutorial/lib now shockwave! :)

Btw Andy, if you ;

Code: [Select]
#INCLUDE "windows.bi"

In the beginning of your program, then you can use;

Code: [Select]
WHILE(GETASYNCKEYSTATE(VK_ESCAPE)<> -32767 and PTC_GETLEFTBUTTON=FALSE)

Code
Code
Code
Code

WEND

To exit on left mouse button too (assuming that you are using PTC_EXT and not TINYPTC (as I suspect).

:)
