MS-DOS versions of Nimbus' - ye gods, you lot were *spoilt*

At the school I went to (81-86), the only reason you got access to the computers were if you were "special needs" (ie. in the lower two bands of the 6-tier class system) and they were full of really crappy educational software. Which, from memory, booted off a CP/M disk in one drive and the other had the software on.
The size of the disks might give the age away .. 8" floppy disk!!!
The failings of my own education gave rise (oo-er, it's not floppy now!) to a year's 6th form doing CLAIT (I really messed up!) and we were "taught" Wordstar on the same types of machines. Some weird network thing was installed so that you could print to the same printer but you had to wait your turn (literally putting up your hand so you could print next!).
Eeeh .. them were t'days
